    • 209 - Repeat Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: Foods were observed on the floor within the walk-in cooler at time of inspection. Contamination of food from contact with objects, people, pests or chemicals can cause serious illness.
      • Corrective Action: Ensure all food items are stored at a minimum distance of 6 inches or 15 cm between the food product(s) and the floor. Keeping food at a minimum 6 inches or 15 cm from the floor helps prevent contact with potential sources of dirt, pests and harmful substances present on the floor and permit cleaning.

    • 209 - Repeat Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: Observed food items stored on the floor within the dry inventory area. Food products shall be stored at a minimum distance of 6 inches or 15 centimetres between the food product(s) and the floor. Keeping foods at minimum of 6 inches (15 centimetres) from the ground helps prevent contact with potential sources of dirt, pests, and harmful substances present on the floor and permit cleaning.
      • Corrective Action: Operator to ensure all food products in the dry inventory area are stored at a minimum of 6 inches (15 centimetres) and is to contact health officer for review and approval to meet compliance with British Columbia's Food Premise Regulation (B.C. Reg. 210/99).
    • 209 - Repeat Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: Foods were left uncovered and open to contamination. Observed several resident trays stored on a serving cart with pie and puree uncovered within the walk-in refrigerator. Contamination of food from contact with objects, people, pests or chemicals can cause serious illness.
      • Corrective Action: Cover or otherwise protect all foods from airborne contaminants, drips from raw foods, and contact with objects and staff
    • 315 - Refrigeration units and hot holding equipment lack accurate thermometers [s. 19(2)]
      • Observation: No accurate indicating thermometers was observed within the large chest freezer where pre-packaged frozen items were stored. Accurate indicating thermometers ensure proper cold-holding storage temperatures of 4 C in refrigerators and -18 C in freezers, respectively, to reduce the growth of bacteria which can contaminate food products and result in potential foodborne illness.
      • Corrective Action: Operator to purchase, install and ensure accurate indicating thermometers that are in good working order to ensure potentially hazardous foods are stored at the proper cold-holding temperatures of 4 C and -18 C respectively.
