- 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
- 1) The toys bins throughout the facility had dust accumulated.- Ensure to clean the toy bins.2) Wooden shelving and whiteboard stands throughout the facility had paint chipping off. - Ensure to repaint the shelves and stands.3) The wooden toys throughout the facility had cracks in them. - Ensure to regularly monitor toys for wear and tear and replace on regular basis.4) The diapering pad in the toddler room had rips. - Replace the diapering pad so it is easily cleanable, smooth and non-absorbent.5) The shelf liner in the nursery room was ripping off. - Ensure to keep the shelf liners maintainted such that they are easily cleanable.

- The drain plugs in 3-4 years room and 5's room washrooms, were not working properly, the drain plug was not able to be kept open, and the water was not draining.-Repair the drain plugs so they are in proper working order.

- 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
- The clip of the safety belt of the diapering mat in the infant room was broken and not safely clipping. The strap was also not secured and fixed to the diapering station. The inspector informed the operator that diapering stations must be equipped with safety belts to prevent a child from falling off. The safety belt must be in good condition and properly fixed. This does not apply to diapering change mats that are placed on the floor.**EQUIP ALL DIAPERING MATS WITH SAFETY BELTS.
- 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
- The chlorine/bleach sanitizer solution at the diapering station was measured at 0-ppm chlorine. The staff/operator created a new sanitizer solution and was measured at 100-ppm afterwards. The inspector informed the staff/operator that a 100-ppm chlorine sanitizer solution must be maintained at all times to ensure that all surfaces at the diapering station are properly sanitized.
- 17. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Critical)?
- The chlorine/bleach-water sanitizer solution was measured above 1000-ppm and the staff was not rinsing off the surfaces after being sanitized with the solution. The inspector informed the staff/operator to either keep the chlorine sanitizer solution between 100-200 ppm or add a rinsing step afterwards when using concentrations above 200-ppm.
- 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
- The carpets in the infant and toddler rooms were taped to the floor. The tape appeared to have an accumulation of dust and dirt. The inspector informed the staff/operator that tapes cannot be used to secure the carpet. If the carpet were to be fixed to the floor, proper adhesives specific to carpets must be used on the bottom to secure the carpet.
- 19. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Critical)?
- The vents in the indoor mini gym room had protruding sharp edges. Please properly fix the vent so that they remain free from protrusions and sharp edges.**FIX THE VENTS TO REMOVE PROTRUSIONS AND SHARP EDGES.
- 20. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Non-Critical)?
- The toys were not being cleaned and sanitized properly. Specifically, the chlorine sanitizer solution was measured to have 0-ppm chlorine concentration. The inspector informed the staff/operator that a 100-200 ppm chlorine concentration must be maintained when sanitizing toys after cleaning/washing. Please ensure to educate all staff about proper cleaning and sanitizing of toys.
- 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Non-Critical)?
- Some paint and glue bottles did not have an AP (Approved Product) symbol. The inspector informed the staff/operator that all paint and glue products must have the AP symbol to ensure that these products were tested for non-toxicity to children. The products were discarded during the inspection.
