    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • Discussed pest control in the facility and noted the following:1) Pest control management - currently, no screen door installed to prevent the entry of flies and other insects - recommended a magnetized type screen netting for the door.2) Fly light control device - purchase and install for more effective fly management in spring/summer season - device purchased should be meant for a food establishment setting.
    • 21. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained in a state of good repair to allow for the safe and sanitary handling of food?
      • Observed the following in terms of food/non-food contact surfaces:1) Wall finish in the walk-in cooler does not appear smooth and in good repair - as discussed, should be refinished (painting was the recommended suggestion) to meet this health requirement.2) Concrete painted flooring in the facility is a grey color and does not appear non-porous. Suggest either repainting with a white in color finish or refinishing to ensure a smooth and easily cleanable finish is required.3) Observed no staff washroom in the facility - although not required by health, this would be ideal to have a washroom facility in the building. At this time, staff would have to go to the residence to use the washroom.
