Also, there were observed rodent (mouse) droppings along the side wall under the stairwell and at the rear exit door. The operator is to discard the rodents and wash and sanitize the contaminated floor sections of the mouse droppings. The operator has a regular monthly contract with a licensed pest control company, with copies of invoices available on-site for review (with most recent service report dated Feb. 10, 2026). The operator is to advise the pest control company of the current active mouse infestation (and areas of activity) in the food premises, and to ensure to seal any openings/holes in the food premises (including perhaps a tighter seal of 'weather-stripping' at the rear exit door and bay garage door). Also, the operator is to ensure staff are aware of when the rear exit door or garage door are opened (and for how long), as this can be an easy access point of entry for rodents into the food premises.
    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • No - there was evidence/observation of rodent (mouse) activity in the food premises, primarily in the rear warehouse storage area, with two live mice in a metal rodent trap and droppings along the side wall near the rear exit door. The operator is to advise the licensed pest control company of the rodent activity and ensure a structural audit is conducted of the food premises to ascertain how live mice are entering into the food premises once again.
    • 19. Does the facility have a valid permit and does the facility operate in compliance with the conditions of that permit, or is the facility awaiting approval prior to operation?
      • No - the printed Food Handling Permit on-site was an expired version (expiry date of February 28, 2026), with the annual updated version to be posted forthwith, in a conspicuous location on the side wall at the front sales counter area.
    • 21. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained in a state of good repair to allow for the safe and sanitary handling of food?

    7 infractions

    • 07. Do food handlers ensure that food is protected from contamination (unless noted elsewhere)(Critical)?
      • No - there was a lack of adequate food grade containers with protective covers/lids to be used for dry food storage products in the rear dry food storage room, as there were only open bags of dry food products in storage. The staff were advised that all dry food products must be adequately covered when not in use (with 'food safety clips' and 'rolled up' bags on shelving or stored inside food grade containers with protective covers/lids - at all times). Also, all food products must be stored at least six inches (15cm) off the floor and onto shelves, racks, or pallets.
    • 11. Are there adequate and properly operating dish washing facilities to effectively clean and sanitize equipment and utensils (unless noted elsewhere)(Critical)?
      • No - the hot and cold water valves to the set of 3-compartment sinks have been switched off. As there was pipe leaking observed under the sinks and at the connected above-ground grease interceptor (when valves were switched on and taps in use), staff have not been using the set of sinks, with inadequate manual dishwashing during the business operating hours. The piping at the sinks and connection to the grease interceptor must be repaired so that there is no leaking and that hot and cold water valves are not switched off during business hours.
    • 15. Is the facility free of a pest infestation?
      • No - there were two (2) dead 'fresh' rodents (mice) observed under the large pizza oven in kitchen area, with mouse droppings (20+) observed along baseboard sections in main kitchen, with mouse droppings (20+) under shelving in the dry food storage room, and mouse droppings (40+) in behind the chest freezer in the adjoining corridor. The staff and operator were advised to discard the dead rodents, sanitize the contaminated floor areas (i.e. of mouse droppings), and then adequately remove droppings using wet paper towel and waste pans or with wet mop (with adequate washing and sanitizing of wet mop after use). Also, the licensed pest control company on contract is to be advised to complete a structural audit of the building structure to determine rodent entry points (with the rear bay garage door a possible issue, as the weather-stripping could not be inspected due to the equipment and materials stored in front of this doorway). Note that there has been a recurring issue of rodent entry into the food premises these past two months.
    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • No - there was observation and evidence of recent rodent (mouse) entry into the food premises, with now two (2) dead 'fresh' mice in a metal trap under the pizza oven in kitchen area (adjacent to the side door), with remaining mouse droppings (40+) in behind the chest freezer in the rear dry food storage room and (20+) mouse droppings along baseboard sections in main kitchen. The previously observed mouse droppings at the rear exit doorway in the bay garage door area have been removed. The operator is to wash and sanitize the contaminated areas and conduct repairs of any damaged wall baseboard sections, to ensure no further rodent entry into the building (i.e. no rodent entry points) - in particular behind chest freezer in rear dry food storage room at rear bay garage doorway area.
    • 21. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained in a state of good repair to allow for the safe and sanitary handling of food?
      • No - additional repairs and vermin-proofing has been conducted in rear of food premises, with sections of damaged wall baseboards repaired (in the rear dry food storage room and adjoining corridor area, in behind equipment, etc.). The operator is to ensure proper repairs are made to prevent possible rodent entry points into the food premises, and to allow for ease of cleaning of walls and floors at the damaged wall baseboard sections. Observation of the other baseboard sections in warehouse storage area is required to ensure no other openings / holes exist. Also, the operator is to ensure all lighting fixtures (fluorescent lights) are provided with adequate light tube covers or protective shields in the kitchen and food storage areas (so as to protect from possible contamination should the light fixture break).
    • 23. Is the facility maintained in a clean and sanitary condition?
      • No - additional cleaning has been undertaken throughout food premises, with remaining and apparently new rodent (mouse) droppings to be removed and floor washed and sanitized along the baseboard section in behind the chest freezer in the rear dry food storage room, and under shelving in dry food storage room, and along baseboard sections in main kitchen area.
    • 24. Is solid and liquid waste being managed in a suitable manner?
      • No - there were issues regarding the above-ground grease interceptor located under the set of 3-compartment sinks, with observed leaking from the connecting pipes underneath the sinks (with water valves switched off to prevent leaking). The operator is to contact a plumber and investigate the issue and make repairs, etc., as necessary, and to contact a professional cleaning company to clean out the grease interceptor (as there was a strong odour at the dishwashing area, indicative of a 'full' grease interceptor). THIS IS AN IMPORTANT MATTER THAT MUST BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY.
