      • Update July 2, 2026: The operator advised that renovation of the walls has not been completed yet as the ownership of the daycare has changed. Previous observations:-The surface of the ceilings, walls, and/or floors in this social care facility are not acceptable. Paint was chipped and peeling in classrooms throughout the facility. Please ensure walls are finished so that they are smooth and easy to clean.

      • May 6, 2026: The operator advised that renovation of the walls has been scheduled for the summer.-The surface of the ceilings, walls, and/or floors in this social care facility are not acceptable. Paint was chipped and peeling in classrooms throughout the facility. Please ensure walls are finished so that they are smooth and easy to clean.

      • The furniture/shelving in the Aspen and Birch rooms has sharp edges and may pose an injury hazard. Please ensure these edges are covered with appropriate protective material to prevent injury.There was a missing safety cover on the switch in the Birch room. Please ensure all electrical switches are fitted with safety covers.Push pins were observed on the walls in all rooms. The use of push pins and staples is not recommended in childcare facilities as they may fall out and pose a hazard. Please remove all push pins and staples and use safer alternatives such as tape, sticky tack, or Velcro. If staples are used, they should be covered with tape.A disinfectant spray bottle was observed stored next to dishes and food in the Aspen room. The staff member was instructed to relocate the bottle. Please ensure chemicals are not stored next to food or food items.Please ensure all disinfectants are stored out of children’s reach or in secured storage.

      • Diaper mats in the Oak, Aspen, Willow, and Birch rooms were observed with cracked edges and tears. All diaper mats must be smooth and non-absorbent to ensure they can be easily cleaned and disinfected.The diaper mat in the Aspen room was not equipped with a safety belt. All diaper changing stations elevated above floor level must be provided with a safety belt to prevent falls.Same sink was being used for toy washing, handwashing, bottle filling, and post-diapering handwashing. Education was provided to staff regarding the need to separate these activities by designating appropriate sinks for each task to prevent cross-contamination.

      • The designated handwashing sink in the Aspen room was not functioning. Staff advised the same sink is used for toy washing, handwashing, bottle filling, and post-diapering handwashing. Please ensure a separate, easily accessible sink is designated for toy washing, as toy washing must not be conducted in a handwashing or washroom sink.Two drawers on the diaper shelving unit in the Oak room are in disrepair and require refinishing/repair.Two drawers on the white shelving unit on the right side of the Aspen room are in disrepair and require repair.A ripped small couch was observed in the Aspen room. Please ensure the couch is repaired or removed from use, as it may not be easily cleaned and disinfected.

      • The handwashing sink on the right in the Aspen room was not producing water. Please ensure this is repaired immediately.There was no hand soap in the Aspen room washroom. The soap dispenser was refilled during the inspection. Handwashing sinks must be fully stocked at all times.
