    • 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: Foods stored in a back dry storage area where stored less than 15 cm/ 6 in from the floor. Food and equipment stored less than 15 cm from the floor are subject to contamination from floor debris.
      • Corrective Action: Ensure that food and food equipment are stored at least 15 cm or 6 in off the ground.
    • 305 - Conditions observed that may allow entrance/harbouring/breeding of pests [s. 26(b),(c)]
      • Observation: Weatherstripping on entry doors had gaps that could allow for pest entry.
      • Corrective Action: Ensure that all entry points prevent pest entry into the facility.
    • 308 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not in good working order [s. 16(b)]
      • Observation: A cupboard in the kitchen area was in disrepair. Gaskets on a fridge and freezer were in disrepair. Cutting boards and utensils were found worn out and difficult to clean and sanitize. Well maintained equipment and cookware allow for safe food preparation and storage.
      • Corrective Action: The operator discarded the worn out cutting boards and utensils during the inspection. It is recommended that the facility performs an annual inventory to ensure that cookware and utensils are in good repair. Ensure that equipment is good repair and surfaces are impervious to moisture, smooth and easy to clean.

    • 201 - Critical Food contaminated or unfit for human consumption [s. 13]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) A sweet potato was mouldy. (Public Health significance) - mouldy foods may contain toxins such as aflatoxin, potentially causing undesirable health effects such as liver cancer when ingested..
      • Corrective Action: Operator immediately discarded the sweet potato.
    • 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Raw meats are stored above some ready-to-eat foods in the freezer and the fridges. (Public Health Significance) - Raw foods may contain microorganisms that can cross contaminate the ready-to-eat foods in the lower level, resulting in foodborne illnesses.
      • Corrective Action: Operator rearranged the storage of food and put ready-to-eat food on the toppest level.
