    • 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Items meant for personal use (fruit sauce, sandwich) were stored along with food items meant for public consumption. (Public Health Significance) - Storing food items meant personal use along with food items meant for public consumption can contaminate the food items. Such contaminated food items may carry illness causing pathogens and may lead to food-borne illnesses.
      • Corrective Action: Ensure that all food items meant for personal use are stored in a separate designatred location. Operator removed the personal items and stored them separately at the time of inspection.
    • 306 - Repeat Food premises not maintained in a sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]
      • Observation: Food waste such as egg shells and food debris were observed to be accumulated in storage cabinets in the front kitchen counter. (Public Health Significance) - Presence of food debris and food waste such as egg shells can cause contamination of food items and posssibly food-borne illness.
      • Corrective Action: Ensure that the kitchen is frequently cleaned and sanitized and maintained in a sanitary condition.

    • 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Observed a bag of pet treats on the back kitchen counter. (Public Health Significance) - Storing pet treats in the food handling and food storage areas can cause contamination of food and potentially food borne illness if accidently handled or used.
      • Corrective Action: Ensure that pet treats are stored outside the food premises or in a separate designated location. Operator was able remove the bag of pet treats and transferred them into a separate designated location, away from the food handling and food storage areas.
    • 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: Several packages of food items in the walk-in freezer were placed on the floor. (Public Health Significance) - Food items if left on the floor can be contaminated by pests that may carry disease causing organisms, such food items if consumed can cause food-borne illness.
      • Corrective Action: Ensure that all food items are stored at least 15 cms off the floor and 5 cms off the walls to prevent its contamination.
    • 306 - Food premises not maintained in a sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]
      • Observation: Significant amounts of food debris and grime were observed to be accumulating inside the food storage cabinets and under the food storage shelving units in the whole premises. (Public Health Significance) - Presence of food debris and grime in food storage cabinets and shelving units can cause physical contamination of food and potentially adverse health effects.
      • Corrective Action: Ensure that the food premises (especially the food storage cabinets and food storage shelving units) is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized on a frequent basis.
    • 312 - Items not required for food premises operation being stored on the premises [s. 18]
      • Observation: Several items not required for the operation of food premises were stored in the dry storage area. (eg unused oven, vaccumm cleaner). (Public Health Significance) - Items not required for the operation of the food premises should be stored outside/away from the food handling and food storage areas as they may cause contamination of food items.
      • Corrective Action: Ensure that items that are not required for the operation of food premises are stored away/outside the food premises.
    • 401 - Critical Adequate handwashing stations not available for employees [s. 21(4)]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Handwashing station in the front counter was missing paper towels. (Public Health Significance)- Hand washing stations should be adequately equipped with paper towels or equivalent drying equipment to faciltate effective drying of hands after handwashing. Inadequately dried hands may lead cross-contamination of food and potentially food borne illness.
      • Corrective Action: Ensure that handwashing station is always supplied with paper towels. Operator was able to place a roll of paper towels by the handwashing station at the time of inspection
