    • 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: Staff jackets were observed to be hung in in close proximity to open prep cooler. (Public Health Significance) - Hanging staff attire in close proximity to food items can cause contamination of food items by pathogens that be present on the staff attire. Consumption of such contaminated food items can cause food-borne illness.
      • Corrective Action: Ensure that all staff jackets are stored in a separate deisgnated location and away from food handling areas.
    • 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: Canopy of exhaust hood had significant accumulation of grease. (Public Health Significance) - Accumulation of grease over ventilation equipment can cause contmination of food underneath, which may cause adverse health effects, it also poses a fire hazard.
      • Corrective Action: Operator to ensure that the ventilation equipment is adequately serviced as required.
    • 307 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not of suitable design/material [s. 16; s. 19]
      • Observation: Surfaces of shelves in food storage room by the front door were not durable to facilitate regular cleaning and sanitizing. (Public Health significance) Materials like raw wood will absorb juices and harbor and allow disease causing bacteria to grow. Proper materials and finishing is required to ensure adequate cleaning and sanitizing.
      • Corrective Action: Refinish surfaces of the shelves to ensure that they are smooth, non-absorbent and easy to clean.

    • 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: Large bag of flour in dry storage area was uncovered and open to contamination or potential pest contact. Empty unused flour bin observed nearby.
      • Corrective Action: Ensure that food is kept protected from contamination by keeping food items covered.
    • 302 - Critical Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not properly washed and sanitized [s. 17(2)]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Chemical dish washer was not dispensing bleach solution at time of inspection. Test strips following cycle indicated 0 ppm chlorine. Lack of adequate disinfection of dish ware may result in transmission of foodborne illness between clients or between staff and clients.
      • Corrective Action: Manual dish washing method is to be used in the event that the chemical dish washer is malfunctioning. Operator provided evidence that dish washer was repaired following inspection and was able to dispense 100 ppm bleach.

    • 104 - Permit not posted in a conspicuous location [s. 8(7)]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Valid food permit for the facility was not displayed in a conspicuous place during the time of the inspection.
      • Corrective Action: Corrected during the inspection. Permit needs to be displayed in a location where the public can see it.
    • 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: Inappropriate equipment is used as scoops to obtain or move ingredients or product. (Public Health significance) - Scoop handles must be kept free from the product to prevent hand contact and contamination
      • Corrective Action: Use food safe scoops in place of bowls or other containers to transfer ingredients
    • 304 - Premises not free of pests [s. 26(a)]
      • Observation: CRITICAL VIOLATION:- Evidence of cockroaches on glue straps and paste bait under microwave and between the water tank were noted in the facility. (Public Health Significance) cockroaches and other pests may cross contaminate foods and surfaces or contaminate human food with feces and urine, carry parasites and other diseases.On site observations did not indicate and infestation. Operator is aware and working with Orkin Canada for pest management.
      • Corrective Action: Operator to continue working with Intergrated Pest Management - Orkin Canada for pest control. Operator must continue to monitor situation. Remove any pest attractants such as food and water, eliminate access to the building and routes they use inside. Trap and remove the pests. The continous use of a professional pest control operator is recommended. Clean and sanitize area where cockroaches are located and monitor situation.
