      • Containers used to store cosmetic products related to waxing services & eyebrow tinting services were visibly dirty. Contaminated equipment must remain separated and identifiable from clean equipment to prevent accidental reuse.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • The high-level disinfectant (HLD) tray is too small. Purchase a suitably sized inexpensive container (i.e. plastic/glass container with a lid from the dollar store) to be used for disinfection of semi-critical equipment. Ensure it is large enough to fully immerse the largest piece of equipment (i.e. large “cheese-grater” style metal foot files) and ensure equipment can be visibly seen to ensure full immersion. The high-level disinfectant tray labelled as "CS20" was empty. There was no PreEmpt CS20 or other high-level disinfectant on-site.The AHP7 indicator test strips expired in 2023.Reuseable semi-critical tools are being washed and placed in the UV sterilizer bin which is not acceptable. A high-level disinfectant is required.High-level disinfectant (HLD) logs are not being maintained.Purchase a high-level disinfectant (HLD) and proper indicator test strips and keep HLD logs. If using PreEmpt CS20, buy two bottles of AHP7 indicator test strips (50 count). If using PreEmpt HLD5, buy two bottles of AHP2 indicator test strips (100 count).Pedicure foot basins are being cleaned with Clorox. This does not have a DIN. A suitable disinfectant is required.

      • Unlabeled spray bottle at the reprocessing sink.Unlabeled bottle suspected to be oxidant for eyebrow tinting services was in the waxing room. Original label was not present.Ensure decanted cosmetic products are labelled with its contents. The original/bulk supply must be labelled with product identity, manufacturer, directions for use and list of ingredients.Ensure cosmetic products used comply with Health Canada - no prohibited products can be used.       • The waxing room was not maintained in a visibly clean state. Ensure that a low-level disinfectant is available for disinfection of environmental surfaces and/or client contact surfaces.Used cloth towels were in the reprocessing area around the sink. Ensure cloth towels are laundered after each use.

      • Metal rotary drill bits were being stored in a container with an acrylic nail and a substantial amount of nail dust. It could not be confirmed whether these were clean tools being stored in unclean areas. Contaminated equipment must remain separated and identifiable from clean equipment to prevent accidental reuse.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • The AHP7 indicator test strips available on-site were not acceptable. It was not labelled with the 3-month expiry date and high-level disinfectant logs were not being maintained. These strips expire 3-months after opening. Until proper indicator test strips have been obtained, the CS20 needs to be discarded after each use.Reuseable semi-critical tools are being washed and placed in the UV sterilizer bin which is not acceptable. A high-level disinfectant is required. Requested removal of the UV sterilizer bin.High-level disinfectant (HLD) logs are not being maintained.
