    • 02. Is all food in this facility from an approved source and/or properly labelled?
      • A commercial food establishment must obtain all food that is liable under law to inspection by the Government of Canada or Alberta, or by an agency of either, from a source that is subject to inspection by that entity. There were 3 products observed during the inspection which were determined to be from the same unapproved source. PHI has forwarded this information to Edmonton Zone as the source is located in their jurisdiction. Please remove these products from store shelves if you have not done so already.
    • 04. Does the operator use approved methods for cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, and surfaces?
      • The chemical concentration of the bleach sanitizer was higher than the required concentration. The solution was diluted appropriately during the inspection. Please ensure that sanitizer solutions are maintained at 100 ppm.The sanitizer was also labelled to identify the contents during the inspection.

    • 12. Are there adequate and properly operating dish washing facilities to effectively clean and sanitize equipment and utensils (unless noted elsewhere)(Non-Critical)?
      • FOR SANITIZER SOLUTIONS: A sample supply of appropriate test strips was left on site with the operator. PHI will send the operator links to appropriate test strips that are capable of testing sanitizer solutions to ensure that they are maintained at 100-200 ppm.

    • 04. Does the operator use approved methods for cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, and surfaces?
      • A sanitizer solution was not available. Operator prepared a bleach spray during the inspection. The solution was tested and was of adequate concentration. Also discussed the procedure for sanitizing the steam wand. Operator was using Cafetto EVO® Espresso Machine Cleaner. The product specifications were reviewed, and it was noted that the product did not have a "sanitizer" claim. Sanitizer options were discussed, and operator has appropriate sanitizers available on site to meet the legislative requirements.

      • Water samples had not been submitted for this facilty. Operator had not previously been aware of the sampling requirements so this was discussed during the inspction. A sample bottle was left on site and operator stated that they will submit a water sample on the next available sample date (Tuesday November 14).
