- 305 - Conditions observed that may allow entrance/harbouring/breeding of pests [s. 26(b),(c)]
- Observation: Food waste, used food containers, and cardboard boxes were observed outside of their appropriate waste or recycling bins in the waste disposal room/bay. Openings/holes were observed on the main entry gate from the waste disposal bay to outside of the premise. Public health significance: An unclean and untidy area with food waste and clutter attracts pests by providing food and shelter for harbouring and breeding. Any holes/openings that are larger than a quarter of an inch may allow the entry of mice and other pests. Pests, including mice, may be carriers of pathogens that contaminate food items, surfaces, and equipment. Ingestion of such pathogens through contaminated food and surfaces may lead to foodborne illnesses.
- Corrective Action: All garbage and clutter in waste disposal bay must properly disposed away. The holes on the main entry gate to the waste disposal bay must be fully sealed.

- Corrective Action: Food products left on the ground inside the walk-in freezer must be removed and disposed of. Operator must remind all staff, especially closing shift staff, to routinely clean and monitor for the cleanliness of storage areas and other food premises.

- Corrective Action: Unsanitary conditions like liquid pooling on the floor in the waste disposal area may harbour pathogens and attract pests. When an employe enter the waste disposal area they may carry the pathogens inside the facility which may lead to cross contamination. The operator was told to clean and sanitize the floor in the waste disposal area and around the waste oil storage tank. The operator was told to seal the cracks on the floor to avoid pooling of liquids inside the cracks
