      • Written procedures were not available during the inspection. - Ensure all required written procedures are readily available onsite to personal service workers including the cleansing of skin and mucous membranes, application of antiseptic products, post-service care for personal services that involve puncturing the skin or mucous membrane, client care in the event of an accidental skin cut or puncture, and decontamination of any sink that will be used for both handwashing and equipment reprocessing.

      • Various metal nippers and clippers were noted to have rust build up on the equipment. - Ensure all reusable equipment is in good condition and can be cleaned and disinfected properly. The operator discarded the nippers and clippers with rust build up.

    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • High level disinfectant was not available at the time of inspection. The operator reported using an intermediate level disinfectant to disinfect semi-critical equipment. - Ensure semi-critical equipment is disinfected with a high level disinfectant at minimum. High level disinfectant (PREepmt CS20) and test strips (Virox APH 7.0%) were obtained by the operator during the inspection to disinfect equipment. High level disinfectant is to be tested and verified daily and these records are to be maintained onsite. A high level disinfectant log sheet was provided during the inspection to record testing and verification daily.

      • The PREempt RTU disinfectant in use during the inspection was expired. - Ensure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for use for disinfectants including replacement when the disinfectant is expired. The operator discarded the PREempt RTU and obtained a new bottle of PREempt RTU with a future expiration date during the inspection.

      • Lysol disinfectant wipes at the piercing service counter were open and dried out. - Ensure disinfectant wipe lids are kept closed. The operator discarded the dry disinfectant wipes and replaced them with a new, closed container.
    • 21. Is equipment that is intended to be sterile maintained sterile at the point of use?
      • Non-packaged single-use disposable microblades were noted during inspection. - Ensure all purchased pre-sterilized critical equipment is maintained as sterile in the original sealed packaging until the point of use. The operator discarded the non-packaged microblades in the sharps container.

      • Manufacturer's instructions for used for Berrywell and Bigen hair dyes used for eyebrow tinting both indicated the dyes are not to be used on the eyebrows or eyelashes. - Ensure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for use of all cosmetic products. The operator removed the dyes from the facility for personal use. Various microblading pigments were past best before date. - Ensure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for use of all cosmetic products. The operator discarded the pigments.

      • A facial product in the facility did not have an ingredients list or manufacturer's instructions for use available. - Ensure ingredients information and manufacturer's instructions for use are available for all cosmetic products. The operator removed products from use until ingredients and manufacturer's instructions for use can be verified.
    • 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
      • The wax pots were uncovered. - Ensure to cover wax pots when not in use to reduce the risk of contamination of bulk supply of wax. The operator covered the wax pots.
