    • 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
      • Written procedures for skin cleansing and antiseptic use for manicure, pedicure and nail services were not established.* Please complete pages 2 and 3 of the AHS written procedure template that was left onsite.
    • 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
      • Alcohol based hand rub (ABHR) was expired since 2022 and did not have a DIN or NPN issued by Health Canada.* Please acquire ABHR with a DIN or NPN and contains between 60-90% alcohol.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • Preemprt RTU intermediate level disinfectant was used for reprocessing reusable semi-critical equipment, including nail clippers, foot paddles, cuticle nippers, etc.AHP 7 test strips were available, however a high level (HLD) disinfectant was not present to be tested.Disinfection tray was too small to fully immerse large items such as foot paddles.Please ensure the following corrective actions are taken:* Obtain a high level disinfectant with a medical device license and ensure manufacturer's instructions for use are followed. This includes minimum contact times, reuse periods, and testing requirements.* Obtain a large soaking tray that will allow full immersion of all reusable semi-critical equipment, including foot paddles.* Test the HLD each day it is used with the appropriate test strips, and document the results.
