    • 12. Are the general safety devices and physical conditions in this pool providing a safe environment (Critical)?
      • The main drains are of an upside-down orientation and not installed as per manufactures specifications. The suction outlet fitting assembly (SOFA) is also required to be secured (eg. by mounting in a wall/box or making them fully inaccessible). Upon discussion, the operator indicated that engineered stamped designs for a box to house the drains+SOFA would be established for approval.**Update: Consultation has been on-going regarding the implementation of plans for a box to house the main drains, skimmers and SOFA with the operator. Engineered stamped plans are required and will be reviewed once completed.Oct 3 UPDATE Boxes have been designed and are being built. The hope is to test the prototype this fall and build more over the winter. While the prototype should be available soon it was noo onsite at time of inspection.
    • 13. Are the general safety devices and physical conditions in this pool providing a safe environment (Non-Critical)?
      • Slides now discharge just above water level making for a safer entry.A slide entry area has been roped off making for safer entry and reduced likelihood of collision. Pool depth is increased by approximately 20 cm. Sliders no longer make contact with the bottom of the slide on entry. An attendant has been present at the top of the slides when in use.Slide flows have been adjusted to control speed. Slide platform has been coated and the trip risk between panels is nearly eliminated. Further coats are being applied in the spring to remove the uneven flooring caused by dents and some product that is liftingAdditional netting has been added at the top of the slides above the handrails and at slide entrances. Much of this is over and above building code. This should help prevent falls. As time goes on ensure the netting remains in good condition and not rotted in the sun and moistureAdditional metal and netting has been added to prevent riders from standing on the slides Action - Ensure max flows are marked on the valve so unfamiliar staff don't accidentally increase flows.Action - Some gaps at the top of the slide still appear to be greater than 4 inches. These could be entrapments and would not meet building code. Check all gaps to ensure none are greater than 4 inches. Of particular risk are those greater than 4 inches adn less than 9 as these could become a head entrapment. There are some triangle shaped openings at the top of the slides that would be entrapments and should be closed off.Action - continue with additional surfacing on the slide platform to eliminate lifting materials, unever surfaces and other potential tripping points.Action - Owner has contracted a safety company to review the operation, please provide a copy of that report as discussed.
