- Several soiled single use/uncleanable equipment such as emory boards were observed in a container in the facility.** The reuse of single use/uncleanable equipment is not allowed; ensure they are discarded immediately after use on a single client.
- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- Semi-critical tools are being reprocessed using alcohol for disinfection.**Ensure to obtain a high-level disinfectant for reprocessing semi-critical tools. The disinfectant is to be used according to the manufacturer's instructions and the minimum effective concentration tested daily.**Please note that the use of alcohol is not an allowed as a disinfectant for reprocessing personal services equipment except for some porous reusable equipment that does not contact mucous membrane or broken skin such as make up brushes.

- There was a pair of used, disposable gloves hanging on the cupboard door. Used gloves were discarded during the inspection. Dispose single use gloves immediately after use.

- A cleansing product was not available for waxing.Provide a cleansing product. Skin must be cleansed prior to waxing.

- A dirty tray with damaged tools was stored in the same cupboard as clean equipment. These tools were not labeled as damaged.The tray of damaged tools was discarded during the inspection.

- There was debris on tools used for pedicure. These tools were stored in a cupboard.Tools were disassembled, cleaned and disinfected during the inspection.

- 1) A disinfectant was not used in pedicure foot baths after cleaning.Use a low-level disinfectant at minimum. Recommend the use of an intermediate level disinfectant. The operator will use a high-level disinfectant in the meantime. 2) The contact time for CS20 solution was not being followed. Reviewed the manufacturer's instructions for use with the operator. Discussed the use of a timer for monitoring the contact time.3) There was debris in the container of CS20 solution used for reprocessing equipment.CS20 solution was replaced. Ensure to clean equipment properly prior to disinfection.4) Equipment was not fully immersed in the CS20 solution during reprocessing.CS20 solution was added to the container so that equipment was fully immersed.5) PREempt RTU had an expiration of May 2024.The solution was discarded.
