      • Some metal manicure tools stored in resident-labeled bags were found to be rusted.-Discard any rusted tools and replace with new tools.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • The bottle of Oxivir Plus that was being used to disinfect the pedicure basin was only being changed every 2 months.-Obtain new disinfectant for the pedicure basin.Options for disinfectants that can be used were discussed.
    • 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
      • The cupboard and drawers used for storing supplies were disorganized. A pair of shoes was stored beside equipment and used files were stored in another drawer amongst equipment.- Clean and organize the cupboards and drawers. - Store clean tools and equipment in sanitary manner and adequately separated from unrelated items.

      • Using intermediate level disinfectant PreEMPT RTU for semi-critical tool disinfection. - Must obtain a high-level disinfectant for semi-critical tools. - Use only disposable items until the required disinfectant is obtained. - Obtain test papers for the high-level disinfectant if reused for multiple days or discard at the end of day.
