- 12. Are there adequate and properly operating dish washing facilities to effectively clean and sanitize equipment and utensils (unless noted elsewhere)(Non-Critical)?
- At time of inspection:1. Chemical test strips were not available within this facility.The owner / operator of this facility is requested to conduct the following, namely:1. Obtain chemical test strips for whatever sanitizer you plan to use to sanitize all food contact surfaces / equipment.
- 14. Does the facility have an adequate supply of potable hot and cold running water and is the water sampled at required intervals?
- At time of inspection:1. This facility is not connected to an approved municipal potable water source / system. Currently, the owner / operator is using a fifteen-liter container of bottled water to service the main 2-compartment sink (there were three bottles of water available - one used at a time).The owner / operator of this facility is requested to conduct the following, namely:1. Connect to a municipal potable water system OR determine whether a cistern can be installed on this property to provide potable water. Be advised that this cistern must be approved by the municipal safety codes official (i.e. under the Alberta Safety Codes Act) and be of suitable size / quantity to meet the needs of this commercial food establishment.
- 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
- At time of inspection:1. There did not appear to be any pest control records for this facility.The owner / operator of this facility is requested to conduct the following, namely:1. Ensure pest control records are made available for this facility.
- 21. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained in a state of good repair to allow for the safe and sanitary handling of food?
- At time of inspection:1. This facility is not connected to a municipal sewage disposal system. This facility currently contains three (3) 15 litre bottles (one used at a time) that are used for greywater collection / storage. The operator indicated that all three greywater containers (when full) are then disposed of at a nearby gas station toilet.The owner / operator of this facility is requested to conduct the following, namely:1. Ensure this facility is connected to an approved municipal sewage disposal system OR determine whether a greywater tank (subject to municipal approval under the Alberta Safety Codes Act) would be permitted to be installed. Be advised that, if approved, this greywater tank must be of sufficient size / quantity to meet the needs of this commercial food establishment.
- 22. Are utensils and equipment maintained in a condition and a manner that ensures the safe handling of food?
- At time of inspection:1. This facility does not currently contain a dipper well because it is not currently connected to an approved municipal potable water and sewage disposal system.The owner / operator of this facility is requested to conduct the following, namely:1. Connect to an approved municipal potable water and sewage disposal system.2. Install a dipper well once item #1 is completed.
