    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • Several first aid kits throughout the facility are missing items such as hardware (scissors, tweezers, safety pins), first aid wipes/antiseptic (those available had no expiry date). Please replenish kits.
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • 1. A few sleeping mats have frayed edges, rendering them uncleanable. Please repair/replace.2. Staff indicated that the toys and surfaces are bleached first, then undergo a deep cleaning with just detergent at the end of the week. This step is reversed. Toys and surfaces cannot be disinfected until they are cleaned. Ensure that all toys and surfaces are first washed with soap and water, then disinfected with the bleach solution.

    • 24. Are sleeping supplies and areas sufficient to ensure client safety and comfort (Non-Critical)?
      • 1. There is inadequate separation and storage of childrens' bedding in a manner that prevents contamination between cots and personal belongings. This was noted in all rooms:- Room previously used as gym: Sheets and pillows are touching one another while childrens' bedding is stored on top off all the cots. There is inadequate of personal sheets, blankets and pillows. - A large sheet/blanket was used to cover the cots in the middle room (mixed age group). As there is no laundering onsite, this sheet cannot be disinfected between napping sessions and therefore there is risk of contamination between cots due to the cover. This would also be conducive to the spread of lice/bedbugs if there is a case within the room.- In the infant room, childrens' blankets and sheets were stored between cots and were touching other cots, again, without adequate separation of personal items,- Bedding was observed touching other coats/bags in the hallway. In all of the above, there is inadequate storage methods for sleeping supplies, and unavailable storage compartments available in the daycare. Please implement an adequate method for storing sleeping supplies that ensures proper separation, that does not add to the already overflowing hook system in the hallway. Hooks would not be a recommended method for storing bedding (in bags) as these are also prone to touching one another. **November 7 update: Operators have purchased cubbies but they are not installed. Based on photos provided, there is still an ongoing storage issue. Reinspection will be conducted next week once cubbies have been installed and separation has been achieved.

    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • 1, One plug cover missing in the room formerly used as a gym in the NW corner. Ensure all plugs have adequate covers.2. Bingo dabbers observed onsite did not have 'non-toxic' label indicated on the bottle. Please remove these as they may be toxic to children.
    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • Bleach in montessori room (large room) measured less than 50 ppm. Corrected during inspection, but operator did not have test strips to assess strength.Though no issues were identified for the bleach solution at the diapering station, it is advised to have strips for these bottles to avoid having these solutions be too concentrated, therefore causing fabrics to bleach. Ensure diapering tables are fully wiped before placing child.
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • 1. Some wooden/painted toys were losing some finishing. These should be repainted/refinished.2. Tape was used on the door in gym room. Tape was gathering dirt and was uncleanable. Remove and replace if required. 3. One mirror broken in the gym room. Please replace broken pane and sent film information to inspector.
    • 23. Are sleeping supplies and areas sufficient to ensure client safety and comfort (Critical)?
      • The infant room had two vinyl mats that were damaged and were stored directly on top of cots, whose sheets were still fitted. These cannot be stored on top of cots are they are used (contaminated), and therefore would need to be disinfected after each use if they are to be stored in this manner. Sheets must be removed, and were removed during the inspection.Repair mats to ensure they are easily cleanable.

    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Non-Critical)?
      • It was observed that children have to walk through the rooms when they come in from outside to store boots and jackets in the common hallway. In the former gym room, this space is also used for napping. There is concern that children will be sleeping on floors soiled by outside dirt as there is no storage in the room where children can place soiled boots. Please reconsider storage situation for personal belongings are the current set up is not conducive to keeping the area clean, especially for nappers.
