We collect limited information to operate and improve the Services. This may include:

• Basic contact details you voluntarily provide, such as your name and email address when submitting forms.
• Usage data collected by our analytics tools (see section 4), such as pages viewed, searches performed, clicks, and approximate location inferred from your IP address.
• Device and technical information, such as browser type, operating system, and referral URLs.
• Your device’s location, only if you press “Use my location” on the Near me page (see section 3).

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve the Services, including:

• Responding to inquiries you submit through our contact forms.
• Monitoring usage trends and diagnosing technical issues to improve performance.
• Developing new features and ensuring the accuracy of inspection data presented.

3. Location Features

The Near me page asks for your location only when you press “Use my location”, through your browser’s own permission prompt. Your precise position stays in your browser: we round it to about 110 metres (three decimal places) and send only that rounded point to our server to find nearby facilities. We don’t store it or link it to you.

If you search by Canadian postal code instead, the code is turned into an approximate point in your browser using a built-in table, and the code itself isn’t sent. A city or place name you type is sent to our server as an ordinary search.

4. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising

We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the Services are used. They set cookies or similar identifiers and record usage such as the pages you visit, clicks, and scrolling; Clarity can also record a replay of a session, with search boxes and form fields masked. We use these reports to fix problems and improve the Services. Some advertising on the Services is provided by third parties, including Google, which uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google’s Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com), or opt out of some third-party vendors’ cookies at aboutads.info/choices. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser; the Services keep working without them. Where required, we ask for your consent before advertising or analytics cookies are set.

5. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell or rent your personal information. Analytics and hosting providers process data for us as described above. We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms of Service, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Local Health Inspections and our users.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy or as required by law. When data is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.

7. Security

We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Third-Party Links and Data Sources

Inspection results come from public records published by health authorities; they are about businesses, not about you, and the same records are offered as open-data downloads. Some listings also show business details such as phone number, website, hours, rating, or reviews gathered from Google Maps where available. Links to third-party websites, including health authorities and Google, are governed by those sites’ own privacy policies.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

10. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us using the information below. We will respond in accordance with applicable laws.

11. International Users

The Services are operated from Canada. If you access the Services from outside Canada, you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in Canada, which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
