1. Acceptance of Terms

By using our Services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms, as well as our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. We may update these Terms periodically. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Eligibility and User Obligations

You must be at least 16 years of age to use the Services. By accessing the Services, you represent that you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

You agree to use the Services only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You are responsible for all actions taken using your account or access credentials, if applicable.

3. Accounts

The Services don’t currently offer user accounts, and you don’t need one to use them. If we add accounts in the future, you will be responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for activity under your account.

4. Permitted and Prohibited Uses

You may use the Services for personal purposes, such as checking a restaurant before you visit, and you may share or quote individual results with a link back to the page. The data files on our Open data page may be downloaded and reused under the terms stated there: each region’s files are published under that source authority’s licence, including its attribution requirements.

You agree not to:

• Use the Services in a way that violates any law or regulation.
• Bulk-scrape or crawl the website in a way that degrades it for others; if you need the data in bulk, use the open-data downloads instead.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Services or related systems.
• Interfere with the normal operation of the Services, including by uploading malware or automated bots.

5. Intellectual Property Rights

The design, text, software, and compilation of the Services belong to Local Health Inspections. The underlying inspection records are public records published by health authorities and remain subject to their terms. Except as allowed in section 4 (including the open-data licences), please don’t reproduce substantial parts of the Services without our permission.

6. Messages You Send Us

When you send us a message, for example to report an error in a listing, you allow us to use it to reply to you and to correct our data.

Please don’t send content that infringes anyone’s rights or is defamatory, unlawful, or misleading.

7. Payment Terms

Our Services are currently offered free of charge. We may display third-party advertisements to support our operations. We do not sell products, accept payments, or offer subscriptions directly through our Services at this time.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability

Our Services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We make no representation or warranty that the information provided is complete, accurate, or up to date, or that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

The inspection data displayed comes from public sources managed by local health authorities across Canada and the United States. Some listings also show business details, such as phone number, website, hours, rating, or reviews, gathered from Google Maps where available; that information comes from Google and the business, may be out of date, and is shown for convenience only. Local Health Inspections does not guarantee the accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of this data, and the health authority’s own record is always the final word.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability for damages, including but not limited to direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential losses; damages resulting from use or inability to use the Services; and errors in third-party data or external links.

9. Termination of Service

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Services at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms. Upon termination, all licenses and rights granted to you will immediately cease.

10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Binding Arbitration

Any dispute or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services will be resolved through binding arbitration before a neutral arbitrator located in Ontario, Canada. The arbitration will be conducted in English and in accordance with applicable arbitration procedures under Canadian law.

You agree that arbitration is the exclusive means of resolving disputes between you and us, and you waive your right to participate in class actions, class arbitrations, or consolidated proceedings.

11. Changes to the Terms

We may modify or update these Terms at any time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
