Big Bar Guest Ranch

Big Bar Guest Ranch is a truly special place — remote, peaceful, and welcoming. We visited with both family and friends and were impressed by everything from the well-stocked lodge to the delicious cake their chef whipped up on short notice. It’s kid-friendly, dog-friendly, and easy on the budget. We felt completely at home and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in nature.

We had a great family time at Big Bar Guest Ranch during our recent stay. It's perfect during the covid time, away from the city, countryside stay, with an amazing view. The cabin has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The weather was nice, there was a bit of smog because of wildfire, but it cleared up quickly. The staff is amiable and willing to help, especially Eli and Jenna. My kids love going horse riding and spending time with goats. We enjoyed all the activities and every bit of our stay there. We'll definitely revisit. Thanks for everything.

Amazing views, with semi wild horses on the property, we stayed in the multifamily guest house. There's a fence around it, so the horses can't get in, and the children can safely play. Would recommend to anyone, there's multiple ways to this place also, all worth the drive. We got stuck behind a cattle drive on part of the road for 15km or so, what an experience.

Great experience all round at Big Bar. We felt the family-run feel of the place from the moment we checked in, and enjoyed getting to know the staff each day. Our cabin was well-appointed and nicely decorated, was very private and quiet, and had a great deck and view. Food was fantastic - healthy, hearty, and locally sourced. Our horseback riding tour was really fun, the ranch dogs followed us the whole way! We went up to the lookout and through the forest which was a good variety. Was a nice touch to get a pair of cowboy boots and a hat to wear for the journey! Our wrangler was as authentic as they come, and we even found out it was his beef we had eaten the night before! I also loved that the horses roamed free on the property and we could walk by them on the way to dinner. Lots of time and space to relax and unwind here. Highly recommend!

This was my 2nd time at Big Bar Ranch. The first time was a friend's wedding in 2021, it was incredible. There were some changes since I was there last. There is no longer a red-seal chef on staff, our dinners were very good but the breakfast in comparison to what we had previously was standard breakfast fare. We had eggs, bacon, and pan-fried potatoes for all 4 breakfasts it would have been nice to mix it up a bit...pancakes or waffles or granola. I am not sure I would order the breakfasts again. They were $21.00 each.||The location and the accommodations are the big draws for me. The location did not change from the first visit :) but I thought the cabins were not as clean as our first visit. I will be back but I will likely bring my own food and bring a few items to clean up the cabin if need be. FYI - if you do have meals you cannot order or bring in your own alcohol. This was unfortunate for our graup as we are all foodies and enjoy some nice wine with dinner. I would have given the ranch 5/5 if a few things were different the second time around.

I was at the ranch for 4 days. The rooms are simple and functional. The staff are super nice and always helpful. The restaurant was still closed and I catered for myself. For this I was brought extra a hot plate and pots. Jenna, the manager and my guide for the rides is super and explained me a lot about the landscape. The horses are very well ridden and treated well. I had a lot of fun.

We drove up from Vancouver for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. We were 4 adults, and did a 2.5hr horseback ride on Saturday. We also got the meal plans.||||Overall, the staff was amazing and the food was great. The accommodation isn’t fancy and is showing a bit of age, but it’s rustic and comfortable. The terrain and horse ride was really enjoyable. The trip overall was great value and I cant praise the staff enough :)

We had a wonderful time at Big Bar, from horseback riding to eating delicious food, canoeing and hiking, visiting the cute farm animals, and relaxing in our cozy cabin during a thunder storm. Love it! What a great place to escape the busy life in Vancouver! Dog friendly, our dog actually quickly became friends with couple of farm's dogs. I want to come back next year for the horseback riding, they have so many beautiful horses, all calm and happy. We had a very good time!

We cycled here on gravel roads from Clinton as part of a loop. What a great place to stay! It is rustic and laid back, exactly as needed for a respite from city life. Beautiful landscapes and the kindest staff. Everybody sits at the dining table like one big family. Exquisite cabins and the horse back riding is something to behold. Quiet and picturesque. I would defenetly recommend staying and coming back often

Amazing location with great access to the Jesmond lookout. Flush toilets and a dish wash station with hot water for doing camp cooking cleanup. Well sorted open camping.

Big Bar is a great place to stay. The cabins are clean and comfortable and the food is amazing. Staff is top notch and very friendly and helpful my entire stay. Definitely a place to check out!
