    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • Tested the high-level disinfectant solution (Preempt HLD5) using accelerated hydrogen peroxide 2% test strips and the solution failed. Verbally reviewed disinfection procedures with the operator to determine the cause of the failed test. The operators may have skipped the step where the tools must be completely dry prior to placing in the disinfectant solution. Informed the operators a failed test may occur when using the solution past the reuse period, expired solution, or when disinfection procedures are not followed such as when wet tools are placed directly in the solution, thus, diluting the solution.The operator discarded the solution, cleaned and dried the disinfection tray, then placed a new solution at the time of the inspection.

    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • Several nail clippers and cuticle clippers were rusted. Reusable tools and equipment must be maintained in good repair. Prior to disinfection, reusable tools must be adequately cleaned and visually assessed for cleanliness. Reusable tools must be replaced once they are in disrepair. The rusted nail clippers and cuticle clippers were discarded at the time of the inspection.
    • 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
      • There was a hair strand observed on the perimeter of the wax pot warmer. When portioning the bulk supply, it must be done in a manner that protects the bulk from contamination. That is, using a clean tool to remove a portion of the supply and refrain from "double-dipping".
