    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • Owner and Employee were both unaware that Barbicide's manufacturer's instructions for use required fresh preparation daily. Both stated it was being replaced weekly. Barbicide was light in colourand visibly cloudy with hair remnants. All stations were replaced at the instruction of the PHI.Facility requires a measuring device to prove they are preparing it at the correct ratio, i.e. 62.5 mL (1/4 cup) in 1L of water.
    • 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
      • Waxing pots were observed with q tips and popsicle sticks left inside. Interior of lids has visible hair contamination and requires cleaning to protect the bulk supply.

      • Sections of the dropped ceiling have become water damaged and must be replaced or painted so as to properly monitor for any new leaks.

    • 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
      • Floors throughout the facility including in the washroom, staff area and back storage room require a deep cleaning with special attention to corners and underneath equipment.
    • 29. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained to allow for the safe and sanitary provision of personal services (Non-Critical)?
      • Sections of the dropped ceiling have become water damaged and must be replaced or painted so as to properly monitor for any new leaks.

      • The back area is piled almost to the ceiling with boxes, equipment, furnishings, dirty mops etc. and must be cleaned and organized to allow for proper cleaning and monitoring of pests.

    • 10. Is cleansing and antisepsis of skin and mucous membrane performed in accordance to written procedures and are suitable products being used?
      • Styptic matches were found during the inspection. Please do not use styptic products. Obtain a 70% Isopropyl rubbing alcohol for the disinfection of accidental cuts and abrasions. The product must contain either a DIN or NPN number.This violation was also cited in January 2023.
    • 11. Is post-service care provided by personal service workers following any personal service or accident where a client's skin or mucous membrane is cut or punctured during a personal service, or when energy-emitting equipment is used?
      • Discussion with operators regarding the procedures for care of accidental cuts and abrasions revealed the use of styptic matches. Please do not use styptic products. Obtain a 70% Isopropyl rubbing alcohol for the disinfection of accidental cuts and abrasions.This violation was first cited in January 2023.

      • The Barbicide was visibly cloudy and full of particulates and hair. Please clean the Barbicide container with warm water and soap, allow to dry or wipe dry, and replace with Barbicide solution at the recommended dilution.This violation was first cited in January 2023.
