- 02. Has the operator notified the RHA of the existence of a personal service business, including contact and location information, as well as all personal services currently offered or new personal services that will be offered for facilities and/or special events?
- (1) A PSN was submitted by the operator on March 8, 2024.
- 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
- (1) The operator completed the Written Procedure for Accidental Skin Cuts or Punctures at the time of inspection.* Ensure written procedure is kept on site, and the staff are aware of where it is stored.* Ensure the written procedure is presented to a PHI upon request.
- 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
- (1) There were no single use hand towels or paper towels supplied in the staff washroom. A stack of clean single use hand towels was placed on the shelf next to the staff washroom hand sink at the time of inspection.* Ensure staff are performing hand hygiene (i.e. washing hands with soap/water) when required. Hand hygiene must be performed by the personal services worker before and after every personal service, before putting on gloves that will be worn while providing a personal service, following the removal of gloves that are worn while providing a personal service, and after reprocessing.
- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- (1) There were combs with hair still on them in one of the workstation drawers. Only clean tools should be found inside the storage drawers. * Recommend having labeled bins for storing dirty tools until they can be washed and disinfected. (2) The proper steps were not being followed for cleaning and disinfecting tools. Tools were not being washed and dried before immersing them in the Barbicide solution. Some tools were being placed inside the Barbicide right after being used. Discussed the proper steps.* Ensure Barbicide solution is made fresh daily according to label instructions. Tools must be washed with soap and water, rinsed and dried prior to being disinfected for 10 minutes in the Barbicide solution. Rinse tools after immersion in Barbicide prior to use on client.
- 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this personal services facility (Critical)?
- (1) There was an unlabeled spray bottle with yellow liquid. The operator labeled the bottle with a black marker indicating it was a Mr. Clean solution at the time of inspection.* Ensure all spray bottles are properly labeled.
