- 02. Has the operator notified the RHA of the existence of a personal service business, including contact and location information, as well as all personal services currently offered or new personal services that will be offered for facilities and/or special events?
- There have been changes to services offered; therefore, a Personal Services Notification (PSN) are required.New services include nail services which are higher risk than hair services.
- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- PREEMPT RTU was indicated to be the disinfectant used on reusable clippers and nippers. Operator advised that she sprays the reusable equipment with the solution. This is not in line with the requirements for reprocessing semi-critical equipment. Information on high-level disinfectant to be provided. Discussion occurred onsite regarding proper immersion of equipment. A plastic disinfecting tray is available in the room for use.Testing of the high-level disinfectant solution with test strips will not be necessary as long as solutions are changed daily when in operation.

- OBSERVATIONS:- Non-critical equipment (touches only hair or intact skin) used at this facility for hair services. Low Level disinfectant required. BARBICIDE® is used to meet this requirement for combs and brushes.- Clippercide pressurized spray is used to disinfect clippers. Correct disinfection methods observed (immersion in BARBICIDE®); however, the concentration of the BARBICIDE® was determined to be inadequate as the solution appeared clear. Following manufacturer instructions (62.5 mL / 1L water) will give an obvious blue solution. This was corrected at the time of the inspection. Operator will acquire an appropriate measuring device for mixing the disinfectant solution daily when using the room to perform hair services.
