      • 1. Various used single use disposable items were stored in drawers in the worker's stations, mixed in with reusable equipment. This was observed in the manicure/pedicure area and in the waxing room. This is a cross-contamination risk. Ensure all single use disposable items are thrown away immediately after use. Do not store dirty, single use items in drawers.2. Storage of single use disposable items and reusable items in the waxing room is disorganized and hard for PHI to tell what are clean or dirty items.

      • 1. The worker's stations in the manicure/pedicure area and in the waxing room were disorganized and had visible dust/debris. Ensure better cleaning and organization of the areas takes place. 2. Plastic covering on the waxing bed must be removed, as it cannot be cleaned and sanitized properly

      • Several nail files and nail buffers were observed to be stored and reused. All nail failes and buffers that were observed to be used were discarded.
    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • Various tools were observed to have nail dust build up. The tools were separated for further cleaning and disinfection.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • Tools that are disinfected with high level disinfectant (PreEmpt CS20) are not rinsed after the disinfection process. Ensure all tools and equipment are rinsed after disinfection with PreEmpt CS20.

      • Nail dust build up was observed throughout all manicure stations including tools, equipment, and surfaces. Deep clean all manicure stations.

      • Floor in the corner and under manicure tables, lids on garbage cans, some drawers in manicure tables, nail UV lights, table surface and nail sanding bits.Please have the surfaces cleaned and maintain consistency with environmental cleaning.

      • Used single use nail files were observed at the workstation drawers. The staff discarded the used nail files during inspection. Please ensure single use items are discarded immediately after use.

      • *** Operator uses intermediate level disinfectant (PREempt™ RTU) to disinfect semi critical equipment.Equipment classified as semi-critical must be cleaned and disinfected using, at a minimum, a high-level disinfectant. All disinfectants must have a DIN or an MDL issued by Health Canada. Personal services workers must follow all disinfectant manufacturer’s instructions, including those for contact time, reuse period, diluting and mixing, storage, and rinsing of equipment after disinfection.Nov 17, 2023: The facility still uses an intermediate level disinfectant (Preempt RTU) to disinfect semi-critical such as manicure/pedicure tools and tweezers. Please note that this is an ongoing violation and must be corrected immediately. If not corrected, further enforcement actions maybe utilized.Purchase a high-level disinfectant as discussed during inspection.

      • High level disinfectant test strips were not available at the facility. Please purchase high level disinfectant test strips, ensure high level disinfectants are tested each day used and records/log kept. A high-level disinfectant log template will be sent with this report.
