- 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
- Paper towel was not in a suitable dispenser in the washroom. Replace the paper towel in the holder.
- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- Barbicide solution was only filled halfway up the jar and was not fully immersing combs and equipment.Fill up the jar in its entirety and replace at minimum weekly. Recommend purchasing a spray disinfectant such as Preempt RTU to thoroughly clean and disinfect tools.
- 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
- An old wax pot was found with a stick still inserted into the wax. The unit was very dirty and had hair on it.Facility cannot wax until inspector has reviewed procedures with staff and facility has completed written procedures for client care.
- 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
- There was a buildup of hair found on tools, surfaces, capes and chairs. There was hair found on disinfectant bottle, and used neck strips were not thrown away. One used neck strip that was left on the work space had spots of blood.- All work surfaces, including countertops and chairs, must be cleaned and disinfected after each client- Tools must be cleaned immediately after use and disinfected with an appropriate tool disinfectant. Clippercide may be used but has a 10 min contact time in order for it to work. Recommend something with a shorter contact time such as Preempt RTU. No barbicide jars were seen at 2 stations.- Capes must be laundered when soiled/at end of day.
