Inspection summary
Divine Hair has been inspected once by Alberta Health Services (Environmental Public Health), on August 7, 2026. The most recent inspection, on August 7, 2026, recorded 4 infractions.
In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 4 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Hand hygiene and infection control.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their findings differently, so we group them by what they mean for clients. In personal service settings like salons, spas and tattoo studios, higher-risk findings are the ones that could spread infection from one client to the next, through broken skin, blood or instruments that were not properly cleaned and sterilized.
Hand hygiene and infection controlHigher risk
Infection control is the core of a personal service inspection. Inspectors check that operators clean their hands and change gloves between clients, that a stocked hand sink is available, and that anything that breaks the skin is handled so blood-borne infections such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV cannot pass from one client to the next.
Recorded once on August 7, 2026. For example:
Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
Food safety training and certificationLower risk
Some jurisdictions require operators to complete infection-prevention training, or to hold specific qualifications for higher-risk services such as tattooing, piercing or electrolysis. These findings mean the training record was missing at the time. They do not by themselves mean a client was put at risk.
Recorded once on August 7, 2026. For example:
Has the operator notified the RHA of the existence of a personal service business, including contact and location information, as well as all personal services currently offered or new personal services that will be offered for facilities and/or special events?
Equipment and utensilsLower risk
Instruments, chairs, tables and footbaths must be made of materials that can be cleaned, kept in good repair and stored so they stay clean. Single-use items such as nail files, buffers, razors and needles must be thrown away after each client.
Recorded once on August 7, 2026. For example:
Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk
The premises needs a working hand sink, a separate sink for cleaning instruments where required, cleanable surfaces, and good lighting and ventilation. Upkeep problems are usually lower risk on their own, but they make thorough cleaning harder.
Recorded once on August 7, 2026. For example:
Is the facility properly constructed and maintained to allow for the safe and sanitary provision of personal services (Non-Critical)?

- 02. Has the operator notified the RHA of the existence of a personal service business, including contact and location information, as well as all personal services currently offered or new personal services that will be offered for facilities and/or special events?
- No Personal Services Notification was submitted for the facility. Operators of personal services establishments are required to notify the local health authority of services provided to support public health oversight and regulatory compliance.
- 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
- No soap or paper towels were available at the handwashing sink at the time of inspection. The absence of handwashing supplies may prevent proper hand hygiene and increase the risk of contamination and disease transmission. Ensure that all handwashing sinks are continuously supplied with liquid soap and single-use paper towels and are maintained in a manner that supports effective hand hygiene practices. During the inspection, the operator initially supplied soap and a cloth towel. As cloth towels are not an acceptable method of hand drying in a personal services setting, the operator subsequently provided a box of tissues. An adequate supply of single-use paper towels must be maintained at all times.
- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- 1- Reusable capes were being reused between clients according to staff member without proper cleaning and disinfection. As these items come into direct contact with the skin, inadequate cleaning and disinfection may contribute to the transmission of contaminants between clients.Ensure that all reusable items that come into contact with a client's skin are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between uses in accordance with manufacturer instructions and approved infection prevention and control practices.2- When asked to explain how Barbicide disinfectant is prepared and used, the operator provided incorrect information regarding its use. Incorrect preparation or use of disinfectant solutions may result in ineffective disinfection and increase the risk of disease transmission through contaminated equipment.Ensure that Barbicide is prepared and used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, including the correct dilution ratio, contact time, and solution replacement requirements. Staff must be knowledgeable in the proper use of disinfectants to ensure equipment is effectively disinfected between clients. The operator was educated on the proper use of Barbicide and prepared a new solution during the inspection.
- 29. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained to allow for the safe and sanitary provision of personal services (Non-Critical)?
- 1- The ceiling in the washroom was observed to be in significant disrepair. Approximately half of a ceiling tile above the toilet was missing, and the remaining portion had water damage and supporting a light fixture. The light fixture appeared unstable and may pose a risk of falling. Also mold-like growth was observed on the exposed insulation. Damaged building materials and moisture intrusion can contribute to mold growth. The operator advised that the damage was caused by pipe leakage during heavy rainfall and that repairs are planned.Ensure that the ceiling is repaired and maintained in good condition, damaged materials are removed and replaced as necessary, any source of water intrusion is addressed, and mold-affected materials are remediated. The light fixture must be securely mounted and maintained in a safe condition.2- The washroom window was observed without a screen. Unscreened openings may allow the entry of insects and other pests into the premises.Ensure that windows intended to be opened are equipped with tight-fitting screens and maintained in good repair to prevent the entry of pests.
- 02. Has the operator notified the RHA of the existence of a personal service business, including contact and location information, as well as all personal services currently offered or new personal services that will be offered for facilities and/or special events?
