- 1. There were floaties present in the barbicide.Ensure items such as combs and brushes are thoroughly cleaned to remove hair, grease or dirt before placing into barbicide.2. Operator stated that the barbicide was being used for the first time, but it was prepared several days prior to service. Barbicide must be used within 24 hours of preparation, then discarded as per manufacturer directions.Discard barbicide after the service day is completed. Clean the barbicide container and allow to air dry. Mix a new solution of barbicide at the start of the next service day.

- 1. Items are placed into barbicide without first cleaning them. There was a buildup of hair observed in the barbicide.Ensure items such as combs and brushes are thoroughly cleaned to remove hair, grease or dirt before placing into barbicide.2. Operator stated that barbicide is not changed daily. Barbicide must be changed daily or more often if it becomes soiled. It is recommended to discard barbicide at the end of each shift.3. Clippers are not being disinfected.After cleaning, clippers must be disinfected with a low or intermediate level disinfectant. Disinfectants must have a Drug Identification Number (DIN) on the label and the contact time specified by the manufacturer must be followed.4. The chairs are not being disinfected between clients.Ensure chairs clients contact are disinfected between each client with at least a low level disinfectant. Low level disinfectants have a DIN number and a "disinfectant" claim on the label.

- 1. Paper towel was not present in the dispenser on the wall.Ensure paper towel in a dispenser is available at all times while services are being offered.2. The stainless steel sink was full of towels used for hair coloring. This sink needs to be available for handwashing purposes while services are being offered. Store the towels in a bin.
