- 1- Barbicide solution is not being maintained. The operator advised that the salon typically operates 1 to 2 days per week and that the Barbicide solution is discarded only after the operating period.Ensure disinfectant solutions are prepared, maintained, and replaced in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Barbicide should be changed daily.2- Hair straighteners were observed to have hair debris adhered to their surfaces. The operator stated that the hair straighteners were not routinely disinfected and were not disinfected between clients.Ensure hair straighteners are cleaned and disinfected between each client and maintained in a clean and sanitary condition to prevent contamination.

The operator stated that the brushes had recently been used and had not yet been cleaned.Ensure hair brushes are cleaned of hair and debris and maintained in a clean and sanitary condition. Used equipment should be cleaned and disinfected prior to storage and kept separate from clean equipment to prevent potential contamination.

- 1. There were floaties present in the barbicide.Ensure items such as combs and brushes are thoroughly cleaned to remove hair, grease or dirt before placing into barbicide.2. Operator stated that the barbicide was being used for the first time, but it was prepared several days prior to service. Barbicide must be used within 24 hours of preparation, then discarded as per manufacturer directions.Discard barbicide after the service day is completed. Clean the barbicide container and allow to air dry. Mix a new solution of barbicide at the start of the next service day.

There was a buildup of hair observed in the barbicide.Ensure items such as combs and brushes are thoroughly cleaned to remove hair, grease or dirt before placing into barbicide.2. Operator stated that barbicide is not changed daily. Barbicide must be changed daily or more often if it becomes soiled. It is recommended to discard barbicide at the end of each shift.3. Clippers are not being disinfected.After cleaning, clippers must be disinfected with a low or intermediate level disinfectant. Disinfectants must have a Drug Identification Number (DIN) on the label and the contact time specified by the manufacturer must be followed.4. The chairs are not being disinfected between clients.Ensure chairs clients contact are disinfected between each client with at least a low level disinfectant. Low level disinfectants have a DIN number and a "disinfectant" claim on the label.
