    • 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
      • Written procedures for client care in case of accidental cut and puncture; cleansing of skin; and application of antiseptic were not available.The written procedures were reviewed with the operator.
    • 10. Is cleansing and antisepsis of skin and mucous membrane performed in accordance to written procedures and are suitable products being used?
      • - Cleansing of the skin is not being done prior to a service that may involve contact with mucous membrane, or that will puncture or may potentially break skin.--An antiseptic product is not being applied prior to a service that will puncture the skin. Ensure an antiseptic product is used.The operator was advised to cleanse the skin before waxing and use wet wipes that were available in the facility.The operator was advised to use the antiseptic with an NPN available in the facility after cleansing the skin and before using extractors.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • - Semi-critical equipment is not being adequately cleaned and disinfected. Ensure semi-critical must be cleaned and disinfected using, at a minimum, a high-level disinfectant.- Equipment is not being fully immersed in the high-level disinfectant during the disinfection process. The operator was advised to acquire a container with a lid to be used for immersion of semi-critical tools in a high-level disinfectant.- High level disinfectants are not being tested and verified daily using proper test strips. Ensure the high level disinfectant is tested daily using the test strips specified by the disinfectant manufacturer.- Disinfection records were not available. Ensure records are kept of: test dates, whether the solution passed/failed, when the disinfectant was changed and the worker’s initials who performed the activity.
