      • Ensure manufacturer's instructions for sterilizer are accessible for reference at all times.
      • Provide and follow a written back-up plan in the event of a sterilizer malfunction. Written back-up plans should include: notifying Peel Public Health by calling 905-799-7700; asking to speak to a public health inspector; and having a supply of pre-packaged sterile single-use equipment. Repeat the biological spore test in the event of a biological spore test failure. Do not use equipment that has been processed in a sterilizer that failed a biological spore test.       • The sterilizer must pass three consecutive biological spore tests on the following occasions: before using a newly installed sterilizer, after relocating the sterilizer, after repairs that could affect the sterilizer performance, after a mechanical malfunction and after power outages or emergency situations.       • Mark the sterilization date and, if used, the lot number, on the packaging (beyond the sealed edge) after reprocessing.
