      • The pedicure basins were not being properly cleaned. There were hairs, as well as what appears to be biofilms, located within the jet system. REQUIREMENT: Operator must properly clean and disinfect all components of the basin. Once cleaning is complete, if the jets are a crucial component for the business, then they must be disassembled and cleaned after each use or altered to ensure they're easy to clean. If the jets are not crucial, consider removing the jet system or use a single use liner.March 27, 2025: Repeat violation.

      • 1. There was an accumulation of hair and debris on the service bed, particularly underneath the head rest in the Laser room.Thoroughly clean and disinfect the service bed after each client use. Visually inspect the beds for signs of contamination regularly.2. There was hair and debris on the laser machine.Clean and disinfect the laser machine after each use.3. There was dust, hair, and nail clippings on the pedicure basin surfaces.Thoroughly clean and disinfect in and around the pedicure chairs.

      • There were staff utensils and a plate left in the reprocessing sink adjacent to the pedicure chairs.Do not store personal affects in the reprocessing sink. Ensure that the sink is adequately decontaminated.

      • A nail clipper was significantly rusted.Discard this nail clipper. Ensure all tools are well maintained.

      • There was paper towel located outside the dispenser in the staff/public washroom. This was corrected during the inspection.
    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • The pedicure basins were not being properly cleaned. There were hairs, as well as what appears to be biofilms, located within the jet system. The jet system is a mechanical pipeless impeller which was not being properly disassembled. Operator did not have instructions for it's proper cleaning or disassembly. REQUIREMENT: Operator must properly clean and disinfect all components of the basin. Once cleaning is complete, if the jets are a crucial component for the business, then they must be disassembled and cleaned after each use or altered to ensure they're easy to clean. If the jets are not crucial, consider removing the jet system or use a single use liner.

      • A disinfectant was not being used on the clippers at the hairdressing area.REQUIREMENT: All tools and equipment which come into contact with persons must be properly cleaned then disinfected.

      • Hair salon tool cart stations had a build-up of hair in the bins.REQUIREMENT: Ensure all tools have hair removed from them before placing in the bins. Clean and disinfect the bins regularly.

      • 1) Large amount of expired disinfectant was left onsite.REQUIREMENT: Discard all expired disinfectant.2) Several bottles and containers were unlabelled.REQUIREMENT: Label all containers and jars to ensure there is no confusion with the contents.3) Ear candles were inside the drawers of the waxing room.REQUIREMENT: Remove the ear candles immediately, and do not offer this service unless there is a product with a medical device license.
    • 33. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this personal services facility (Non-Critical)?
      • Hair on the strips and near the waxing pot may contaminate the inside of the waxing pot. There is no lid for the wax pot.REQUIREMENT: Obtain a lid and ensure that the bulk supply of wax is protected from contamination.
