      • Service provider stated that porous and single use equipment was being reused on clients and described improper disinfection procedures that did not use appropriate disinfectants for the classified tools and did not comply with the manufacturer's instructions.Ensure all service providers are trained in what equipment is single-use and must be disposed of, what level of disinfection is required for non-critical and semi-critical tools, how to classify the tools and how to properly disinfect reusable tools according to the manufacturer's label.

      • Single-use nail files and wooden emery board foot paddles were being reused on clients. Used items were discarded. Anything that is intended for single-use or is porous cannot be reused as it cannot be properly disinfected.

      • 1. No CS20 or other high-level disinfectants were present for use on semi-critical tools. 2. Records for high-level disinfectant testing were incomplete and did not contain necessary information required in the Personal Services Regulation and Standards, including the test results (pass/fail) and the dates when disinfectant was changed (for reuse period). Name of tester and date of test was recorded. 3. Semi-critical tools were described as being soaked for 10-15 minutes in a intermediate level disinfectant concentrate that was not diluted. 4. no means of timing the length of soak in a disinfectant was presentEnsure sufficient amounts of low and high-level disinfectants are on site at all times. Ensure all service providers are trained in what disinfectant is necessary for semi-critical tools, what level is needed for non-critical tools, how to follow manufacturer's instructions for use (monitoring for contact time, reuse period, etc), and how to properly record testing of high-level disinfection.

      • 1. The walls of the service room at the end of the hallway had staining/marks on them from liquids being splash down the walls that had not been cleaned. 2. The floors in service rooms were not being maintained in a sanitary condition. Dust and debris was visible on the floors. 3. A service bed was observed with sand on it from a previous client and had not been cleaned or disinfected after the service.4. The waxing table was unsanitary and requires a thorough cleaning. No moisture impervious barriers were observed for use on client used surfaces. Ensure surfaces are properly cleaned and disinfected after each client in accordance with Appendix 1 of the Personal Services Standard.

      • One wooden support rack used for holding pedicure bowls had broken wood that exposed unsealed surfaces and could cause splinters to a client. Remove the damaged support rack from use and ensure any equipment used for pedicures is smooth, non-absorbent and easily cleanable.
