- If manufacturer’s instructions are available ensure they are kept on site and accessible at premises where personal services are being performed.
- Instruments must be stored in a manner that protects them from contamination.
- Ensure all equipment designated as single-use or made of material that does not with stand cleaning and disinfection or sterilization are discarded immediately after use. (O.Reg. 136/18 (10)(5).
- Do not clean and disinfect or sterilize single-use/disposable equipment.
- Immediately discard single use items after use into a waste receptacle.
- Disinfection records must be kept by every operator of a personal service setting.
- Records must include: 1. The name of the disinfectant. 2. The date when the disinfectant was prepared, if applicable, and 3. The date by which the disinfectant solution must be discarded, if applicable.
- Records relating to invasive procedures must be kept by every operator of a personal service setting (O.Reg. 136/18; 6(1-2)).
- Records must include: 1. Which procedure was done and the part of the body the procedure was done to. 2. The name and contact information of the person who received the procedure. 3. The name and contact information of the person who provided the procedure. 4. Documentation that an explanation of the procedure and information about any risks associated with the procedure were communicated to client. 5. Dates of the procedure. 6. The lot numbers and expiry date of the pre-packaged sterile equipment used in the procedure.
