    • Did operator provide notice of intention, operation, additional services, and construction?
      • Operator failed to provide written notice to the Brant County Health Unit of the intention to operate a personal service setting at least 14 days before starting the operation
    • Did operator discard sharps immediately after use into a sharps container?
      • Ensure that, immediately after use, all sharps (e.g., razor blades, credo blades, needles, lancets, scalpels) shall be disposed of in a sharps container that is located in close proximity to where the personal service is provided.
      • Provide a puncture and leak resistant container with a fill line designed for the safe disposal of sharps.
      • Ensure that sharps containers are compliant with standards of the Canadian Standards Association.
    • Did operator disinfect equipment and surfaces?
      • Low-level disinfect non-critical equipment and surfaces that do not directly contact the client, or contacts only hair or intact skin (e.g., combs, reusable handles/holders for blades, magnifying glasses, equipment covered with single use disposable plastic liner, client chairs, client beds).
      • Intermediate-level disinfect equipment that are intended to contact only intact skin but may accidentally come in to contact with non-intact skin or mucous membranes or penetrate the skin (e.g., nail clippers, cuticle nippers, reusable dremel bits, ear piercing device, single-use ink caps, tweezers and scissors used in hair removal services).
      • Intermediate-level disinfect reusable equipment between each use to prevent disease transmission. - Provide an intermediate-level disinfectant and ensure it is easily accessible. Fully immerse equipment using 70-90% isopropyl or ethyl alcohol for 10 minutes. Discard the 70-90% isopropyl or ethyl alcohol immediately after one use.
      • Intermediate-level disinfectant: Mix 20 ml (4 tsps) of 5.25% bleach with 1 L (4 cups) of cold water. Ensure the equipment is fully immersed in the disinfectant for a minimum of 10 minutes. Prepare a fresh bleach and water solution daily.
