Inspection summary
Marc'd Up Tattoos - Events has been inspected 7 times by Alberta Health Services (Environmental Public Health) since April 19, 2024. The most recent inspection, on October 2, 2026, recorded 1 infraction.
5 of 7 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 2 inspections with 1 infraction recorded. All recorded findings relate to upkeep, equipment or paperwork rather than direct infection-control risks to clients.
The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their findings differently, so we group them by what they mean for clients. In personal service settings like salons, spas and tattoo studios, higher-risk findings are the ones that could spread infection from one client to the next, through broken skin, blood or instruments that were not properly cleaned and sterilized.
Permits, records and postingLower risk
Operating permits, client records, sterilization logs and required signage. Client records matter because they let health officials contact people if an infection is linked to the business.
Recorded once on October 2, 2026. For example:
Are personal services workers at the facility maintaining client records and where applicable, sterility documentation corresponding to that client?
Equipment and utensilsLower risk
Instruments, chairs, tables and footbaths must be made of materials that can be cleaned, kept in good repair and stored so they stay clean. Single-use items such as nail files, buffers, razors and needles must be thrown away after each client.
Recorded once on April 19, 2024. For example:
Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?

- 12. Are personal services workers at the facility maintaining client records and where applicable, sterility documentation corresponding to that client?
- A clear process was not in place to ensure that each participating artist kept the required sterility assurance documentation with the corresponding client record.Client consent forms and sterility assurance documentation are not the same thing and are not interchangeable. A consent form records the client’s agreement to receive a service. It does not identify or trace the sterile needles, cartridges, jewellery or other critical equipment used on that client. Each artist or operator must maintain a client record that includes the client’s full name and contact information, date and description of the service, name of the artist, and the sterility assurance documentation from every pre-purchased sterile critical item used during the service. These records must be retained and accessible for review for at least two years.Section 3.65 of the Personal Services Standards states:“Sterility assurance documentation from all critical equipment purchased as sterile that is used in a personal service must be kept with that client’s records.”A signed consent form does not satisfy this legal requirement. If an artist uses one combined form, the sterility assurance documentation from every applicable sterile package must be attached to or clearly linked within that client’s record.
