- Provide written procedures for the following:-Pre-treatment cleansing of skin for each service provided -Accidental skin cut or puncture -Decontamination of reprocessing sink for handwashing
- 10. Is cleansing and antisepsis of skin and mucous membrane performed in accordance to written procedures and are suitable products being used?
- Skin is not being cleansed before waxing services.Obtain a cleanser and ensure client skin is cleansed before waxing takes place.
- 13. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Critical)?
- Used nail files and buffers were observed being stored alongside other nail tools in drawers.Items that cannot be properly cleaned (nail buffers, foam toe separators, foam sandals) are considered single use, and must be discarded after use.
- 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
- Some tools (nail clippers, cuticle nippers) in the drying cabinet were rusted. Some had hard water accumulation and other debris on them.Reclean the tools with debris. Discard rusted tools.
- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- CS20 was being sprayed on the magnetic head impellers for the pedicure basins. The CS20 had expired in 2023, additionally, CS20 is not intended for this use. It is intended for use on reusable tools (not surfaces).Discard expired CS20. Use an appropriate disinfectant for the magnetic head impellers for the pedicure basins.
- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- A low level disinfectant with a 5 minute contact time (Scrubbing Bubbles) was being used to disinfect the pedicure basins. The disinfectant was not being given at least a 5 minute contact time.Either leave the product in use on the surface for 5 minutes, or obtain a disinfectant with a shorter contact time.
- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- Disinfection of semi-critical tools was being performed using 70% isopropyl alcohol. Reprocessing of semi-critical equipment requires a high-level disinfectant with an MDL number. If reusing disinfectant after 24 hours, use test strips to verify disinfectant strength and record these results.

- A hole was observed in the side of the waxing bed.Repair hole or replace cushion to make bed surface cleanable.
- 30. Is the reprocessing area of a personal service facility that uses reusable equipment properly designed, managed and maintained to ensure the safety of clients?
- Sink used for reprocessing is also used for client handwashing.Direct clients to use bathroom sink to wash hands. Do not allow clients to use reprocessing sink.
