- 22. If the facility sterilizes equipment, are all proper sterilization, verification, and documentation processes in place (Critical)?
- 1. The facility is not performing biological monitoring of the sterilizer. Satisfactory biological results must be achieved prior to use when a new sterilizer is installed. Biological tests must also be completed monthly when the sterilizer is in use. - Please obtain biological monitoring equipment and perform these tests ASAP and at least monthly going forward.2. Chemical monitoring is taking place; however, the facility requires a Class 5 indicator strip to be run (packaged) through the sterilizer with each load done. - Please obtain Class 5 indicator strips for use in the sterilizer.3. Load numbers must be recorded on each package run through the sterilizer. - Please include the load number on the packages.4. There is no suitable container for holding dirty equipment. - If cleaning and sterilizing will not be done immediately after piercing takes place, please obtain a sturdy, easily cleanable, container with a lid that can be used to hold the used piercing equipment until cleaning can take place. The equipment must be kept moist until cleaning takes place.
