    • 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
      • No written procedures were noted for the following:1. preparation of skin (steps for cleansing of skin and mucous membranes and application of antiseptic products)2. client care in the event of accidental skin cut or puncture3. decontamination of dual purpose sink. Decontamination procedure needs to be maintained for sinks used for both handwashing and equipment reprocessing. Please establish written procedures for the above activities and implement use.

      • Preempt CS20 high level disinfectant is not being tested daily using test strips.Please ensure high level disinfectants are tested daily using test strips and test records are maintained onsite.Feb 25: PERX Hydrogen Peroxide Test Strips were provided, but it was difficult for the Public Health Inspector (PHI) to verify if they were appropriate to test Preempt CS20 high level disinfectant. Advised operator that the PHI would provide advice on the test strips after doing some reviews after the inspection.

      • Observed an expired (expired Feb 9, 2024) Preempt CS20 high level disinfectant being used. - Operator provided a new Preempt CS20 high level disinfectant at the time of inspection. - Please follow manufacturer's instructions of disinfectants, including expiration dates.
