      • 1) Facility was spraying tools in CS20, which is contrary to disinfectant instructions (i.e. states to be submerged). **Corrected during the inspection**2) Facility was immersing tools for 15 minutes in CS20, which is contrary to disinfectant instructions (i.e. states to be submerged).REQUIREMENT: Pre-Empt CS20 must be used in accordance with manufacturer's instructions (immerse for 20 minutes).3) Operator's staff stated that CS20 was being re-used for over a week.REQUIREMENT: Testing strips must be used in accordance with manufacturer instructions and a high-level disinfection log must be maintained.

    • 13. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Critical)?
      • A wooden, uncleanable pedicure exfoliator being used.REQUIREMENT: Replace with a fully cleanable and disinfectable pedicure exfoliator such as stainless steel, switch to single-use, or ensure each component can be cleaned and disinfected.
    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • A dirty cuticle trimmer was noted in a container which contained visible debris at the bottom.REQUIREMENT: Clean and visibly inspect tools, as well as their storage containers, for cleanliness before disinfecting and storing.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1) The facility had run out of LDL wipes.REQUIREMENT: Obtain non-expired LDL wipes and ensure there is an adequate supply at all times.2) Facility was spraying tools in CS20, which is contrary to disinfectant instructions (i.e. states to be submerged).Diluted CS20 is also being used as surface disinfectant which is contrary to disinfectant instructions (i.e. states to not be diluted).REQUIREMENT: Pre-Empt CS20 must be used in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
    • 30. Is the reprocessing area of a personal service facility that uses reusable equipment properly designed, managed and maintained to ensure the safety of clients?
      • 1) Food preparation/storage was being done at the reprocessing sink.REQUIREMENT: The reprocessing sink must not be used as any form of food preparation sink.2) The reprocessing area did not enough space to separate clean and dirty items (miscellaneous items cluttered reprocessing area).REQUIREMENT: Ensure there is adequate space to reprocess tools and ensure separation between clean and dirty tools.

      • Many expired disinfectants (e.g. Preempt RTU wipes and CS20) were kept onsite.REQUIREMENT: Promptly discard expired disinfectant so it is not used. Regularly check and make note of expiration dates on the bottle.
    • 33. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this personal services facility (Non-Critical)?
      • Several unlabelled bottles were noted in the establishment.REQUIREMENT: Ensure all containers containing products, liquids, etc. are labelled to prevent mixing incompatible products together, and confusion on which product is which.
