      • Staff exhibited a lack of knowledge in re-processing tools. Re-train all staff and provide documentation/acknowledgement that all staff have been trained.

      • No written procedures for re-processing of semi critical tools. Develop a written re-processing procedure and ensure all staff are trained on how to re-process equipment properly.

      • Used single-use items such as nail files and disposable bags were stored in the back on a tray and in a bag indicating that they're being re-used. Ensure single-use items such as nail files, sanding bands that cannot be cleaned properly are discarded after use.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1) No CS20 disinfectant available. Operator advised that they had just ran out. - A high-level disinfectant such as PREempt CS20 is required for semi-critical tools such as pedicure and manicure instruments. Follow the manufacturer's instructions. Equipment must be cleaned with detergent and hot water, then rinsed with hot water, dried, prior to submersion in the CS20 for minimum of 20 minutes. CS20 solution must decarded daily or discarded after 14 days or sooner as dictated by AHP7 Test Strips. Develop a written re-processing procedure and ensure all staff are trained on how to re-process equipment properly. 2) Testing records required to assess the efficacy of the high-level disinfectant Preempt CS20, were not maintained. - Maintain records or discard the CS20 solution daily. 3) The CS20 concentration is not being tested daily. - The solution must be discarded daily or discarded after 14 days or sooner as dictated by AHP7 Test Strips.4) An intermediate disinfectant was not available for disinfection of pedicure basins. - Ensure pedicure tubs are cleaned with soap and water, dried, sprayed with an intermediate-level disinfectant such as RTU for an adequate amount of time as required by manufacturer, rinsed, and dried.
