- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- Staff indicated test strip was left in solution for minute before reading against color indicator. This is incorrect to the instructions for the test strip use as per manufacture instructions. Reviewed with staff to follow instructions from test strip supplier, dip for 1 second in solution and wait for 35 secs, then check color against control on test strip container immediately.
- 33. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this personal services facility (Non-Critical)?
- Storage rack adjacent to reprocessing sink is also used to store packaged food and eating utensils. Ensure storage area for equipment used for personal services is separate. Keep non-personal service items in separate area.

- 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
- Alcohol based hand rub (70% alcohol) does not have a NPN or DIN on bottle. Replace with product containing NPN or DIN.
- 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
- 1. Powder residue observed on table surfaces and on the lid tops of containers stored in an unoccupied nail station. Nail station was stated not used on day of inspection. Ensure staff properly clean and disinfect environmental surfaces of a client service after use.2. Rodent droppings observed in back area (floor behind the laundry machines and in the bottom surface of the cabinet below the reprocessing sink). Clean up droppings properly and monitor for activity. Complete a pest control record for regular monitoring.3. Clutter in low floor surfaces in back area. Declutter area and keep items stored on shelving off the floor.

- Staff washroom- the light needs to be changed, non-functioning at time of inspection.

- Improper use of reprocessing sink located in back area.1. Sink is also used for staff for washing spoons for staff use (ie. eating spoons). Do not use reprocessing sink for personal staff use. 2. Towels line the counter top around the reprocessing sink. Air drying of tools cannot be on absorbent cloth. Remove cloth from covering the counter top.

- Written procedures for skin preparation for cleansing skin, post-service care, and client care in an event of an accident cut/puncture are incomplete.

- 1. Preempt expired 2022. Obtain new disinfectant.2. Preempt placed in a bottle labelled Flexi Clean. Ensure all chemicals are labelled with their contents. 3. Staff sprayed preempt on the pedicure basin, immediately scrubbed and rinsed. Preempt has a 3 minute contact time and must stay on the surface for that time to adequately disinfect.4. CS20 log does not indicate when disinfectant is changed. Document when disinfectant is changed.

- There is a build up of debris on the floor under tables and under storage areas in the front. Ensure this area is cleaned.

- Several pedicure chair's fabric is peeling or has holes in it. Ensure these are repaired or replaced.
- 30. Is the reprocessing area of a personal service facility that uses reusable equipment properly designed, managed and maintained to ensure the safety of clients?
- CS20 disinfection is located in the front of the salon whereas the reprocessing area is in the back. Move the CS20 to the reprocessing area to ensure tools are rinsed and disinfected in a proper manner. Flow of disinfection is important to maintain disinfection processes. Clients also should not have access to this.
