      • No written procedures were available at the time of inspection.
    • 06. Do operators and personal services workers comply with the Personal Services Regulation and Standards and do they have the skills and knowledge to perform their duties in a safe and sanitary manner?
      • Operator demonstrated a lack of knowledge for not following manufacturer instructions, record keeping, written procedures.
    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • A metal nail clipper was observed with visible debris and residue, despite the operator stating that instruments were cleaned and disinfected. The instrument was stored in a UV storage cabinet. Nail residue was also observed inside the UV storage cabinet, and interior surfaces were not clean, indicating improper cleaning and maintenance of both instruments and storage equipment.

      • High level disinfectant log was not maintained since November 05, 2025. Operator was instructed to test High level disinfectant daily for minimum effective concentration and maintained the documents.

      • Operator does not attain the contact time required for disinfection of semi critical instruments. Operator mentioned that they soak for 7-10 mins after cleaning instead of 20 mins.Operator was instructed to follow manufacturer instructions - Place pre-cleaned, rinsed and dried tools/instruments/devices in PREempt CS20. Allow tools/instruments/devices to soak for 20 mins.

      • Comet Tub & Tile Cleaner was observed being used to clean footbath basins. This product is a cleaner only and does not have a Health Canada Drug Identification Number (DIN). It is not an approved disinfectant and is not acceptable for disinfecting pedicure basins.The operator was instructed to obtain and use a Health Canada–approved intermediate-level disinfectant.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • The operator was not observed using approved hydrogen peroxide test strips to verify the effectiveness of high‑level disinfection. Instead, pH test strips were present and being used. The operator was instructed to obtain and use the correct, manufacturer‑approved test strips. Until the appropriate test strips are available, the operator must prepare and use fresh high‑level disinfectant daily to ensure proper disinfection.
