    • 13. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Critical)?
      • Single-use items, including toe separators, buffers, nail files, and waxing applicators, were observed to be reused. Multiple toe separators were visibly stained with different nail polish colours, and waxing applicators with dried wax residue were observed resting on the wax heater.All single-use items at the manicure and pedicure stations were required to be discarded during the inspection. The waxing applicators were also discarded at that time.Single-use items must be discarded after use on one client and cannot be reused.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • The following deficiencies were noted:1. The high-level disinfectant solution (CS20) in the soaking container failed when tested using a test strip.The operator discarded the solution and prepared a fresh solution during the inspection, which passed when tested.2. No high-level disinfection log was available onsite. The operator indicated that the disinfectant solution is reused and tested daily; however, no documentation was maintained.Please ensure a high-level disinfection log is printed, maintained in the reprocessing area, and updated after each test to document disinfectant effectiveness.

      • Staff do not appear to be knowledgeable of cleaning/disinfecting tools and to discard one time use tools. Provide staff training. Post on the wall written instructions on how and when to clean/disinfect tools and what needs to be discarded after use.
    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • There were several used tools such as clippers and dremel tips left at station. Ensure all used tools are cleaned and disinfected in a timely manner. Ensure used tools are not left at stations, take to reprocessing area.

      • 1. Used nail files at several locations throughout the facility. 2. Used band saw emery tips found at several stations. Ensure nail files/emery tips are discarded after one time use.

      • There were several used tools such as clippers and dremel tips left at station. Ensure all used tools are cleaned and disinfected in a timely manner. Ensure used tools are not left at stations, take to reprocessing area.

      • 1. There was not an adequate supply of CS20 to disinfect tools. Purchase CS20.2. The CS20 test strip bottle was contaminated and was missing the expiry. Purchase new test strips.3. The high level disinfection log was dated 2024. Ensure CS20 is tested daily and recorded daily. Provided high level disinfection log sheet. 4. The pedicure basins are sprayed with CS20. CS20 has a 20 minute contact time. Choose a low level disinfectant that has a lower contact time 1-3 minutes. 5. Chairs and work surfaces are being sprayed with CS20. CS20 has a 20 minute contact time. Choose a low level disinfectant that has a lower contact time 1-3 minutes.6. Tools were only partially submerged in CS20. Ensure tools are fully submerged in disinfectant.

      • Several stations had a build up of nail debris. Ensure stations are thoroughly cleaned.
