      • Some low-level disinfectant had expired in 2025. Service provider advised to discard and use the Lysol wipes that are present. Please ensure all disinfectants are not used past their expiration date.

    • 06. Do operators and personal services workers comply with the Personal Services Regulation and Standards and do they have the skills and knowledge to perform their duties in a safe and sanitary manner?
      • Those providing nail services were not aware of proper disinfection procedures for tools and semi-critical tools used on hands were not being adequately disinfected. Staff were advised on proper processing procedures and advised to reprocess tools prior to the next client. A copy of the Personal Services Standard will be provided for service providers to review.
    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • Some nail tools were being disinfected without a cleaning step first. Semi-critical tools that require disinfection must be washed with soap and water, rinsed and dried prior to disinfecting.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1. Equipment/tools used for manicures were not being disinfected in a high-level disinfectant. Those that went into disinfectant were not being dried prior to disinfection. Tools that may come in contact with non-intact skin must be washed, rinsed, dried and then placed in a high-level disinfectant in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions for the disinfectant, then rinsed and air dried. Drying before disinfection prevents the solution from being diluted. 2. Testing of high-level disinfectant for nail tools was not being routinely done and recorded. High-level disinfectant must be tested each day before use and the results of the testing recorded. 3. Clipper disinfectant was expired in 2023. Clippers must be cleaned of hair and disinfected between clients. 4. Combs were observed in a container of barbicide that was only half covering the combs. Ensure combs are fully submerged in disinfectant between uses.

    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • Some service providers were using CS20 that was expired in Nov. 2021. Manufacturer provides an expiry on the label that must be adhered to. Discussed with service providers that new CS20 or another high-level disinfectant must be obtained and used on necessary tools immediately. The HDL 5 is present and available for use by all, temporarily, until more can be obtained within a few days.

    • 02. Has the operator notified the RHA of the existence of a personal service business, including contact and location information, as well as all personal services currently offered or new personal services that will be offered for facilities and/or special events?
      • No personal service notification (PSN) has been recieved. Operator has been provided a link to complete the PSN. Please submit a PSN to notify of the new business. If new services are added or there is a location change in the future, a PSN would then be required.
