      • The washroom was not available for public use at the time of inspection due to issues with the handwashing sink. The handwashing sink must be supplied with both hot and cold running water to ensure proper function and safe use. The operator was advised to address this issue promptly and restore access to the washroom. The operator must ensure the handwashing sink is supplied with both hot and cold running water to allow for proper temperature control. It is recommended that a licensed plumber or the landlord be contacted immediately to repair the plumbing issue, restore cold water supply, and ensure the sink is fully operational. The washroom is to be made available for public use once these deficiencies have been corrected.

      • During the inspection, the handwashing sink in the washroom was found to dispense water at approximately 61°C, with no functional cold water available. This presents a significant risk of burns to users. Additionally, the faucet was observed to be dripping, indicating a maintenance issue. The operator was advised that a supply of tempered water (a mix of hot and cold) must be available to ensure safe handwashing conditions. Immediate corrective action is required, and the operator was instructed to contact the landlord as soon as possible to repair the plumbing, restore cold water supply, and address the excessive water temperature and leaking fixture.

    • 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
      • A hairwashing style sink in the back room is being used for handwashing. It is not being used for hairwashing. There was no hand soap available; it was reported that shampoo was being used to wash hands. Paper towel or other single use towel was not available.Ensure liquid hand soap in a dispenser is available at all times for handwashing.Paper towel in a dispenser must be available at all times for drying hands.Cloth towels may be used for drying hands if they are laundered after every use. A laundry bin must be located nearby to place soiled towels.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1. Clippercide is sprayed on clippers and then they are immediately wiped off with a towel.Clippers must be first cleaned, then sprayed with the clippercide. Clippercide must be left on the clippers for at least 10 minutes to achieve effective disinfection.2. Barbicide is only being changed every 3-7 days. Manufacturer's instructions for use specifies that barbicide must be changed daily.Ensure barbicide is changed daily as per manufacturer's instructions.3. Barbicide had a significant amount of hair present.Ensure items are thoroughly cleaned prior to immersing in barbicide. Hair and other organic matter will degrade the disinfectant.4. Wipes present did not have a DIN or disinfectant claim.Use wipes that have a DIN and disinfectant claim to wipe down surfaces (Eg the client chair) after each service. Contact time must be followed.

      • The work station had a significant amount of hair present.Ensure the work station is maintained in clean and sanitary condition. The work station will likely need to be cleaned/wiped down throughout the day to prevent hair buildup.
    • 29. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained to allow for the safe and sanitary provision of personal services (Non-Critical)?
      • The shelf beside the sink in the staff room that is used for handwashing was raw particle board. Repair or replace the shelf so that it is smooth, impervious to moisture, and easy to clean.
