- 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
- Facility did not have a written procedure for client care in the event of an accidental skin cut or puncture.Corrective Action:AHS written procedure template was provided for use.
- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- 1) Facility did not have a device to measure the required amount of Barbicide for proper dilution of this disinfectant. The manufacturer instructions on the label state to mix 62.5 ml of Barbicide in 1 liter of water. (This is equivalent to 2 ounces of Barbicide in 32 ounces of water, or 1/4 of a cup of Barbicide in 4 cups of water)Corrective Action:Operator obtained a device to measure the correct volume of Barbicide and water for mixing.2) Rubbing alcohol was being used to treat equipment.Corrective action:- Advised operator that rubbing alcohol is not an approved disinfectant and shall not be used as a disinfectant. - However, rubbing alcohol (i.e. 70% isopropyl alcohol spray) can be used on brushes.
