    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • Foot paddles were being disinfected by spraying with an intermediate level disinfect PreEMPT RTU, instead of soaking in a high-level disinfectant.- Staff poured CS20 disinfectant in a bigger container and disinfected all the clean foot paddles by soaking them in the solution. - Ensure that all semi-critical tools are disinfected in a high level disinfectant.

      • One fan cover in a second pedicure basin could not be open so the cover and fan could be cleaned and disinfected after each use.- Do not use the pedicure tub until the fan covers could be open and cleaned/disinfected.
    • 33. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this personal services facility (Non-Critical)?
      • Some spray bottles with chemicals were not labeled with their content. Staff was not aware what was in the bottles. - The solution was discarded. - All chemicals and cosmetics bottles must be labeled with their content to prevent misuse.

      • Single use nail files were being cleaned, then disinfected with CS20 and reused for multiple clients. Used nail files were observed in "clean" instrument bags.The nail files present are single use and must be discarded after one client.

    • 06. Do operators and personal services workers comply with the Personal Services Regulation and Standards and do they have the skills and knowledge to perform their duties in a safe and sanitary manner?
      • Staff were unable to describe the correct use of the pedicure basin disinfectant (PREempt Concentrate).-Ensure staff are trained in how to use the disinfectant (including the procedure and how much to use)-Basin is approximately 15L, staff must calculate amount of disinfectant to use, and follow manufacturer's instructions for use in the basin
