    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • High-level disinfectant test strips were not present at the time of the inspection to confirm the concentration of disinfectant products.The manufacturer's instructions and Personal Service legislation requires that high-level disinfectant concentrations be logged while in use.Test strips will need to be ordered by the operator. A record keeping sheet for the high-level disinfectant was provided to the Operator by the Inspector during the inspection. Disinfectant concentrations are to be recorded and retained. For the time being, the Operator is changing the disinfectant after each use and is not using past the manufacturer's instructions.

    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • At the time of the inspection, alcohol swabs were used to wipe reusable semi-critical equipment to remove physical contamination, prior to using a high-level disinfectant product on them.Semi-critical devices must be cleaned and rinsed with water prior to using a high-level disinfectant. No suitable reprocessing sink was available in the facility during the inspection to allow for proper cleaning of equipment prior to disinfection. The operator plans to suspend services until a suitable reprocessing space can be secured.

      • The facility did not have an onsite reprocessing area, or an arrangement with another operator to access an already approved reprocessing area.To properly clean reusable semi-critical devices prior to disinfection, a reprocessing sink is required. The Operator has chosen to temporarily suspend services and arrange for the use of an already approved space to reprocess their equipment.
