    • 06. Do operators and personal services workers comply with the Personal Services Regulation and Standards and do they have the skills and knowledge to perform their duties in a safe and sanitary manner?
      • The staff were not able to demonstrate proper knowledge of disinfection practices. Staff indicated that PREempt CS20 and PREempt RTU were being mixed to disinfect semi‑critical manicure and pedicure tools.- Ensure staff is trained on proper disinfection procedures and that disinfectants are not mixed and strictly according to manufacturer’s instructions.
    • 13. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Critical)?
      • Several pumice stone were being reused.- Discard all used pumice stone. Ensure pumice stones are single‑use and discarded after each use.
    • 16. Is reusable equipment handled and stored properly (Non-Critical)?
      • Repeat violation April 5th, 2026: The linen used on the treatment bed in the waxing room was only being laundered at the end of the day. All linens must be removed and laundered after each client and the bed disinfected using a low-level disinfectant.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • Records are not being documented for the high‑level disinfectant throughout the reuse period.- Ensure required monitoring and documentation are completed for the full reuse period, in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

    • 13. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Critical)?
      • Dirty uncleanable items, including emery boards and buffers, were observed stored at the workstation, indicating reuse - Discard all used emery boards and buffers. Ensure that these items are discarded after each use.
    • 16. Is reusable equipment handled and stored properly (Non-Critical)?
      • The linen used on the treatment bed in the waxing room was only being laundered at the end of the day. All linens must be removed and laundered after each client and the bed disinfected using a low-level disinfectant.
    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • The workstation was dirty. Dust was observed on tables, tools, and inside drawers.- Clean and disinfect all areas of the workstation.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1. Manicure and pedicure semi-critical tools were being disinfected using alcohol, which does not meet the requirements for high-level disinfection.- Obtain and use a high-level disinfectant with a Drug Identification Number (DIN) for the proper reprocessing of all semi-critical manicure and pedicure tools. Follow manufactures instruction for use. Obtain appropriate test strips for the disinfectant since you intend to reuse the solution, document test result and maintain records for review. 2. There was no low-level disinfectant for surfaces.- Obtain a low-level disinfectant that has a DIN for use on surfaces.
